Overview

LGRA’s PRT pricing team is composed of actuaries at all levels: recent hires to industry veterans. You’ll learn and use sophisticated actuarial models, and collaborate well in a fast-paced work environment, deliver insightful analysis.  

The team prices pension risk transfer transactions throughout the year. You’ll start by gathering and analyzing transaction data to familiarize you with the pension risk transfer product and how we price transactions. Next, you’ll calculate annuitization benefits for deferred annuitants’ chosen form of annuity payment. You’ll work with individuals across multiple teams, learn defined benefit plan provisions, and learn about pricing risks.  

You’ll have exposure to transaction pricing, where you’ll partner with three to five actuaries and use proprietary actuarial software and mortality models to forecast annuity liabilities, then estimate transition risk and profit measures.  

Our internship program is 11 weeks long, beginning May 27, 2025 and ending August 8, 2025. This internship offers a cross-functional project with your fellow interns, so you learn about LGRA’s strategy and collaborate to help solve a key business issue.

Role and Responsibilities  

  • Generate individual benefit calculations for pay-out annuities.  
  • Prepare annuitant data for modeling and project expected liability cash flows and profit metrics for pricing PRT transactions.  
  • Learn and use actuarial pricing software.

Requirements

Qualifications  

  • Major in mathematics, statistics, or related quantitative analysis field.  
  • Intern to graduate six to twelve months after the internship ends.  
  • Taking Society of Actuaries examinations with one pass preferred.  
  • Use Microsoft Excel’s text, date, and data transformation functions to rapidly analyze data.  
  • Familiarity with multiple decrement actuarial mathematics is a plus.  
  • Experience managing multiple responsibilities with time-sensitive deliverables.  
  • Intrinsic motivation, work ethic, can-do approach, and perseverance.

The expected hiring compensation for this position is $21 per hour for all hours worked.
