Full Job Description

We are deploying infrastructure for 5G Networks. A telecommunications startup focused on efficient and strategic support to the nationwide 5G deployment, helping OEMs and operators achieve enhanced connectivity for their networks.

The field technician will be responsible for New and existing technology integrations to the network. LTE & 5G Integrations as per site requirements and work with the construction crew on site to complete the job scope.
Installation may also be required alongside commissioning and integration tasks.

Responsibilities

  • The work involves installing, configuring, and integrating the new 5G/LTE equipment from Nokia (as well as decommissioning and removing old equipment from the site).
  • You will be part of a growing team, coordinate tasks with integration engineers, and perform related tasks.
  • A qualified candidate will have 1-2 or more years of experience with working at telecommunications sites (ie, BTS/radio installation, fiber, telco, light electrical, etc)—experience with Installation, commissioning, and integration of Nokia LTE & 5G equipment.
  • Ensure on-site work is conducted safely and in compliance with T-Mobile & OSHA guidelines.
  • Minimalise downtime if service-affecting work is being performed to reduce network outages.
  • Asset management - pick up/RMA assets from the customer warehouse and make sure the transactions are being captured accordingly.
  • Provision IXRe router and provide transport Backhaul connectivity to all technologies.
  • Configure NR (FDD/TDD), LTE(FDD/TDD) and GSM technologies as per the RFDS and Port Matrix.
  • Work with the remote integration team to update SW to Radios, load SCF, verify SYNC, troubleshoot, and test technologies.
  • Perform e911 CT, 5G speed test and RIOT/CBN validation
  • Follow national/market T-mobile standards for Flexi System External Alarm module cabling to SSC cabinet alarming terminal.
  • Work with Tower Crew for troubleshooting and post-checks to make sure VSWR/RTWP/SFP transmission rates are within the market threshold limit.
  • Capture Pre/Post pictures and complete site report as per customer standards.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering or related field preferred. High School diploma and equivalent related experience considered.
  • NOKIA Level 0, Level 1, installation and commissioning certifications.
  • Basic Safety certifications (OSHA 10/30, CPR/First Aid, BBP, RF Awareness, PPE...etc)
  • A qualified candidate will have 1-2 or more years of experience with working at telecommunications sites (ie, BTS/radio installation, fiber, telco, light electrical, etc)—experience with Installation, commissioning, and integration of Nokia LTE & 5G equipment.
  • Must have experience with Nokia BTS manager.
  • Experience with T-Mobile multirat/eSRAN equipment is preferred.
  • Experience with Nokia System & Airscale modules and radios.
  • Experience working on ABIO, ABIA Channel cards and ASIL, ASIK control cards.
  • Transport provisioning and worked on IXRe and v2 routers.
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of RET verification, VSWR/RTWP/SFP monitoring, Sync timing verification, External alarm verification, software and subrack positioning.
  • Commissioning & Integration of 5G, GSM & LTE radio technologies.
  • Experience working on external alarming - Flexi System Ecternal Alarm module cabling to SSC cab alarming terminal with national standards.
  • Installations Circuit Breakers, GPS Kit, LAN Connections, CPRI Fibers.
  • Understanding of IP and Routing of cables.
  • Mounting/unmounting of cabinet, racks and hardware.
  • Experience with Nokia System & Airscale modules and radios.
  • Commissioning & Integration of GSM, LTE & 5G radio technologies and 2nd carrier bands.
  • Ability to represent the company with professionalism.
  • Ability to work within Maintenance Window hours (midnight to 6am) or daytime as scheduled based on project scope and adhere reliably to schedule.
  • Ability to travel within a region, market or out of market on a project basis.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all types of weather throughout the year.
  • Ability to use technical skills to work independently and within a team and execute responsibilities as well as solve problems.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and climb a 12 ft ladder.
  • Computer and MS Office Proficient.
  • Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.
  • Basic Hand Tools.
