Job Summary:
As Spartan’s Senior Commercial Construction Estimator, you will be in the corporate office supporting the Preconstruction group. The position requires an in depth understanding of all commercial construction trades including sitework, structural concrete, paving, light gauge and HSS metal frame construction, MEP’s and interior finishes. The right candidate would be comfortable working with owners, design consultants, subcontractors, SCM team members and executives. We need someone who is a leader, detail oriented, a self-learner, a builder of processes, and comfortable maintaining a work-life balance in a fast-paced high-growth environment.
Requirements
Key Results:
- Accurate Cost Estimates: Deliver 90% of cost estimates within ±5% of final project costs.
- Timely Bid Submissions: Submit 95% of bids on or before the deadline.
- Profitability of Awarded Projects: Achieve a minimum gross profit margin of 20% on 90% of awarded projects.
Main Responsibilities:
- Attend and support in client initial kick-off meetings to fully understand scope
- Ability to thoroughly read and understand construction documents/analyze specifications to compile subcontractor bid packages
- Perform quantity survey takeoffs within Bluebeam and other software tools
- Develop pricing/compile full construction estimates following the industry standard CSI divisions in various stages of the design process; ability to provide estimates at Conceptual, Schematic Design, Design Development and Construction Document phases
- Source bids from relevant design consultants/local subcontractors and vette for performance, cost, and quality • Ability to work on multiple preconstruction projects at once
- Manage document control for various phases of the preconstruction process
- Create & distribute meeting minutes for preconstruction meetings
- Compile cost history and prepare system comparisons following standardized phase codes
- Develop project Procurement Status Reports and support initial buyout efforts
- Support initial project schedule development and management throughout the preconstruction phase
- Develop project risk/opportunity logs for preconstruction projects
- Perform construction scope risk analysis and project schedule risk management
- Support the development of project proposals with the Preconstruction Manager and Operations Group
- Execute on various scopes of work through the subcontractor selection and contracting process
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local codes, laws and regulations
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies
- Assist in annual planning and program build out of SOP’s
- Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- 10+ Years of experience estimating projects as a commercial general contractor
- 10+ years of field experience with a nationwide commercial General Contractor • Prior experience demonstrates successful completion of commercial construction projects in 3 or more asset classes
- Bachelor’ Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or related field
- A drive to learn and do as much as possible in an entrepreneurial setting
- Ability to use one’s own autonomy and creativity to be macro managed with mentorship
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically excel. Smartsheets, and Google Suite products
Benefits
Compensation: Salaried position $120,000-$130,000, health/dental/vision benefits, profit sharing, unlimited PTO, flex

Location and Type: Full Time Exempt Employment, Travel Required as needed to support Initial Site Development Visits
