SciTec has an immediate opportunity for a talented Scrum Master/Release Train Engineer with experience in Software Development to support programs focusing on Target Detection and Tracking, State Estimation, and Classification for exploitation of data from remote sensing systems (ground-based, airborne and space-based). The Scrum Master/Release Train Engineer will serve as an advisor for all aspects of program software work, both planned and performed. The Scrum Master/Release Train Engineer will provide support in planning and strategy by focusing on functional application’s capabilities and maturity. The Scrum Master/Release Train Engineer will be able to understand customer needs and core missions and organize the team towards development of best-in-class software technology. The Scrum Master/Release Train Engineer will help to define prioritization and sequencing of the applications development and integration by proposing / supporting development of a strategic roadmap that leads to the target state. The Scrum Master/Release Train Engineer will participate/lead key discussions around release train engineering from both business and technical perspectives.

The Scrum Master/Release Train Engineer will support and advise on all software technical activities across the contract and work with senior technical leaders on driving continuous improvement and innovation. The Scrum Master/Release Train Engineer will work with Government leadership and industry partners to help identify and drive innovative solutions resulting in overall improved performance and cost reductions.

Responsibilities:

  • The Scrum Master’s major responsibilities are to facilitate the Agile events and processes and assist the team in delivering value.
  • The Scrum Master/Release Train Engineer provides support and coaching for an Agile Team and supports an Agile Release Train.
  • The Scrum Master will communicate with internal and external stakeholders, escalate impediments, help manage risks, and drive continuous improvement.
  • They support leaders, delivery teams, and other internal and external stakeholders in the adoption of Agile processes and a Lean-Agile mindset.
  • They develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders by managing expectations and limitations, advising on risks, and emphasizing impacts to project goals and outcomes. 
  • Drive continuous evolution of Agile and Lean practices along with strategic initiatives aligned to the customer’s roadmap and schedule.
  • Provide transparency around historical Feature throughput to ensure a reasonable amount of work is brought to Sprint and Program Increment Planning
  • Facilitate recurring team- and Release Train-level events that include Program Increment Planning, Scrum of Scrums, and Feature Decomposition and Backlog Refinement/Prioritization with Product Managers, Program Managers, and Technical Leads.
  • Observe, identify, and orchestrate opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Support Program Increment (PI) Planning readiness, PI events and PI execution to ensure successful PI execution.
  • Provide functional leadership including managing and monitoring the performance and professional growth of individual contributors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Scrum Master, Release Train Engineer, and/or Agile Coach experience
  • Must have experience working with tools such as Confluence and Jira
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships, both internally and externally with Customers, Prime Contractors, and Subcontractors
  • Strong meeting facilitation, conflict resolution, relationship and team building, effective communication, and flexible and adaptable communication skills and experience
  • Experience with software development and delivery covering all aspect of SDLC
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of experience, or master’s degree/Ph.D and 2+ years of experience
  • Must have certification as Scrum Master
  • Experience in facilitating Agile principles in software development
  • Experience in Scrum execution with project leadership and team members
  • Experience in Program Increment Planning and decomposition of software development work to Feature/Story level
  • Outstanding collaboration skills, prior experience working in a matrix organization
  • Highly organized and execution-focused, accountable and driven
  • Ability to diagnose problems quickly and have foresight into potential issues.
  • Ability to gain an active DoD security clearance.
  • Ability to write and verbally communicate detailed technical information and risk-related concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical senior leaders and audiences.
  • Detail oriented
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Candidates who have any of the following skills will be preferred:

  • Certification as a SAFe Release Train Engineer
  • Experience working software development in a Federal Government/DoD environment.

The pay range for this position is $125,000 - $172,000/year. SciTec considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills. This is not a guarantee of compensation.
