Full Job Description

As a Sales Commissions Analyst, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely calculation and distribution of sales commissions to our Sales team and outside agents. You will collaborate with various departments, including Sales, Finance, and Human Resources, to collect and analyze sales data and calculate commissions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of sales compensation plans, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with sales representatives, outside partners/agents and key stakeholders.

 

Duties:

Internal Responsibilities and Functions:

  • Collect and analyze sales data, including revenue, quotas, and performance metrics, to calculate commissions accurately.
  • Respond promptly to sales commission inquiries, providing detailed information and addressing any concerns, requests for exception or any other needs relative to commissions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of sales commissions for all commission based roles on a monthly and quarterly cadence.
  • Audit commission calculations to verify accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Alert department leadership to any discrepancies or disputes and assist where necessary in resolution.
  • Provide support to the Sales team by addressing inquiries related to commission plans, payouts, and calculations.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team to ensure proper recording and reporting of commission expenses and payments.
  • Generate regular reports on commission payments, providing insights and analysis to support decision-making.
  • Continuously assess and improve commission processes, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Finance, and Human Resources teams to establish and maintain accurate sales commission plans and policies.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices related to commission management, ensuring our processes remain competitive and compliant.

 

External Responsibilities and Functions:

  • Process and manage commissions for outside agents in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Respond promptly to outside agent commission inquiries, providing detailed information and addressing any concerns they may have.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with the Accounting team on a monthly basis to ensure accurate reporting of outside agent commissions.
  • Maintain and identify improvements for commission processing systems and workflows to streamline the overall process.
  • Audit commission calculations to verify accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with outside agents, serving as a primary point of contact for commission-related matters.
  • Generate regular reports on external commission payments, providing insights and analysis to support decision-making.
  • Participate as needed in training sessions for outside agents regarding commission structures, policies, and procedures to enhance understanding and transparency.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of sales compensation principles, plans, and calculations.
  • Proficient in using commission management software and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, CaptivateIQ, Xactly, SAP, etc.).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze complex data sets, identify patterns, and draw meaningful insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with sales representatives and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting principles related to commissions.
  • Understanding of relevant legal and compliance requirements in sales compensation.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.

 

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years in a Payroll, Commission, or Finance related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in sales compensation administration or a similar role, preferably in a high-growth organization.

Compensation:

Compensation for this role includes a base salary between $70,000 and $80,000and will vary based on experience. This role is also eligible for an annual bonus and equity, based on individual and company performance.
