Full Job Description

As an Energy & Utilities Project Manager, you will be a part of a fast-paced environment helping clients and internal business partners solve complex problems and deliver exceptional results. This role will primarily work with our Energy & Utility clients across a portfolio of major generation, transmission and distribution capital projects.

Responsibilities include:

The Project Manager will lead and motivate a team of managers and other staff in the day-to-day management of project safety, quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, subcontractors, suppliers, proposals, estimates, documentation turnover, client relations/management, field staff and other duties required to plan and execute General Contract (GC) or Engineer Procure Construct (EPC) projects. The Project Manager oversees a project from inception to completion and may perform the role of Program Manager, as well as support and provide guidance to others as required by the specific project. Responsible for overall project execution and successful completion of projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities may include:

  • Lead the planning, execution, and control of large, complex utility projects (gas & electric, supply, transmission, distribution). 
  • Develop comprehensive project plans and lead project teams to achieve project goals.
  • Manage project stakeholders, including senior management, internal departments, and external vendors. 
  • Identify and mitigate project risks proactively, ensuring project success. 
  • Develop and implement project controls processes to monitor and report on project performance (cost, schedule, quality). 
  • Mentor and coach less experienced project managers within the PMO. 
  • Proven track record of leading successful project completions on time, within budget, and meeting all quality standards is required. 

 

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required (master’s preferred)
  • Extensive experience in project management, ideally within the utilities industry 
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to manage and influence stakeholders at all levels 
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills 
  • Experience with project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and project controls methodologies 
  • PMP Certification and OSHA 10 or 30 Certification preferred
  • Comfort handling ambiguity and managing multiple assignments
  • Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
  • High level of proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively expand professional networks through strategic relationship building and engagement
  • Positive, collaborative attitude with a willingness to do what it takes to deliver excellent work product and customer experiences
  • Ability to commute to various clients in the Denver metropolitan area

Benefits

Contract position for a long-term multi-year engagement. $100-$135/hour. This is based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skillset and years and depth of experience.
