OVERVIEW
The Posner Center for International Development is seeking a dynamic and strategic Communications Manager to enhance our visibility, strengthen our brand, and foster tenant engagement. This role is pivotal in managing both external and internal communications, ensuring that our mission and the achievements of our tenant organizations are effectively communicated to stakeholders, partners, and the wider community. The Communications Manager will report directly to the Executive Director (or the Building Manager in their absence). This position requires working 4 days per week in the office and ensuring 5 days per week of building coverage between the building director and the communications/community manager position.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES
- Maintain positive, clear, and direct communications with the Posner Community, including Posner Center Tenants, Members, Staff, and visitors.
- Support the Mission of the Posner Center by expanding the visibility of the Posner Center, facilitating collaboration among members, and amplifying the overall voice of the Posner Center community.
- Support the Posner Center Team in ensuring safe, effective, and efficient Community Management. Serving as the community concierge and being available to support the needs of the Posner Center Tenants and Members during business hours.
Requirements
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Tenant Engagement:
- Foster strong relationships with tenant organizations through regular communication and collaborative initiatives.
- Organize tenant meetings, workshops, and networking events to enhance community engagement and collaboration.
2. Social Media Management:
- Manage and grow the Posner Center’s social media presence, crafting posts that drive engagement and awareness.
- Monitor social media trends and leverage them to increase visibility.
3. Reporting and Analysis:
- Track and report on the effectiveness of communication initiatives, using metrics to guide improvements.
- Gather feedback from tenants and stakeholders to inform future communications strategies.
1. Communications Strategy and Management
- Communications Strategy Development and Execution:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive internal and external communications strategy that aligns with the Posner Center’s goals and objectives.
- Identify opportunities to enhance the Posner Center’s brand and reputation within the international development sector.
- Research communication tactics, strategies, and metrics for strengthening communication strategy and practices; update metrics and goals annually;
- Lead all internal and external communications initiatives;
- Support any internal meetings (team, community, or board) with scheduling, communication tools, technology, and minutes/notes or readouts (when requested).
- Public Relations and Branding:
- Oversee all public relations initiatives, including press releases, media outreach, and events.
- Create and manage branding materials, ensuring consistency across all communications platforms.
- Collaborate with tenants to highlight their programs and achievements.
- Coordinate with the Executive Director and Building Directors to support long and short-term Center initiatives through cohesive communications
- Assisting with communications campaigns for specific programs such as the Posner Center Symposium and the International Collaboration Fund
- Manage office phone, voicemail, and mailroom daily for the four days the Communications/ Community Manager is in the office. The remaining day to be covered by the Posner Building Director.
- Manage Info@posnercenter.org email account by replying within three business days and forwarding relevant communications to the appropriate team member (Executive Director, Building Director, or the Exec Comm. of the Board)
- Content Creation:
- Write, edit, and produce high-quality communications that reflect the missions and stories of our tenants and the Posner Center as a whole.
- Develop engaging content for various communication channels, including newsletters, social media, website, and promotional materials.
- Take, edit, and organize photos for events, including the annual Symposium
- Create videos to promote tenants/members and draw people to our website
- Promote events through external postings, printed flyers, and targeted outreach emails;
- Compose blogs (at least monthly) for Posner Center Community Google Group and external website;
- Interview Tenants/Members on their work to craft blogs and/or attend events and blog about them;
- Compile information and assist with the drafting the Posner Community newsletter;
- Follow Tenant/Member websites, blogs, Facebook pages and newsletters to pull content for Posner Community communications;
- Create and post the printed event calendar for the building
- Manage Subscriptions (e.g., Grant Station, Foundation Center, periodicals, etc.)
2. Community Management
- Foster strong relationships with tenant organizations through regular communication and collaborative initiatives.
- Organize tenant meetings, workshops, and networking events to enhance community engagement and collaboration.
- Enhance the building's welcoming environment by greeting visitors and guests as needed and managing the digital receptionist (e.g., Greetly)
- Assist the Building Director with building tours
- Ownership of the website and all website updates (WordPress + Event Expresso)
- Update the website pages, including the calendar of events, job and internship announcements, and Tenant/Member information;
- Create and schedule media posts to announce all Posner and Tenant/Member events, welcome new members, and share other opportunities/topics;
- Assist with the general administration of Community Programs; lead all community communication platforms (Community Board, Community of Practice Listservs); support with building communication/IT/sound equipment during community events
- Create Building signage; Manage new Tenant and other building signage requirements
- Create and manage community events with other Team members (Town Hall and others)
- Serve as concierge of the front desk when working in the building. Answering questions of tenants/members/visitors and ensuring all who enter Posner feel welcomed and comfortable in our community.
- Work closely with the Building Director to ensure safe, efficient, and effective operations of the Posner Center building. Support with vendor communications and building maintenance as needed and assigned.
3. Reporting and Analysis
- Track and report on the effectiveness of communication initiatives, using metrics to guide improvements.
- Gather feedback from tenants and stakeholders to inform future communications strategies.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in communications, with a focus on public relations and brand management.
- Demonstrated ability to create effective communications strategies and campaigns.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in social media platforms and content management systems.
- Experience working in the non-profit sector or international development is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with communication tools and platforms is highly desirable.
Benefits
SALARY AND BENEFITS
This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary of $62,000 per year. This position is based in our Denver office with at least days 4 days a week in the office.
Benefits include a competitive medical and dental insurance package with 75% employer premium coverage, and a 401k plan (through Guideline.com) with a 6% employer contribution match. PTO includes 10 federal holidays and four weeks per year with advance approval required for more than 3 days of leave plus 6 days of sick leave. PTO is subject to an accrual cap of 120 hours.
