Full Job Description

Scout’s Intern, People and Culture, will play an important role in building and expanding our People and Culture team. Together, our team executes on the strategic plan to attract, empower, and advance Scout team members who will achieve Scout’s Mission and Vision in alignment with our Values. You will serve as the point person for key administrative functions associated with People and Culture-related tasks. Tasks can include: 
 

Key Deliverables: 

 

Support staff onboarding by adding new hires to key systems and tools: 

  • Learning management system. 
  • Safety equipment and company gear system. 
  • Timesheet and vacation system. 
  • Performance review system. 
  • Company organization chart. 
  • Document existing procedures and build new procedures and training as needed in collaboration with other People and Culture team members. • Assist in other support roles, as requested. 

 

Support Talent Acquisition efforts including: 

  • Coordinate and schedule candidate interviews. 
  • Applicant tracking system (ATS) administration. 
  • Coordinate candidate and new hire travel to our Boulder headquarters.  
  • Conduct competitor research to support the development of job descriptions. 
  • Support career fair coordination and booth setup and material shipments. 

 

Supported by the People and Culture Manager, you will build and execute a successful summer internship program for 15 interns (including yourself!) throughout the summer. Duties may include:  

  • Support the team in analyzing, selecting, and onboarding to a new Human Resources Information System (HRIS) software.  
  • Support P+C’s recruitment team as needed including conducting competitor research to support the development of job descriptions. 
  • Document existing procedures in collaboration with other People and Culture team members. 
  • Review existing procedure documents for consistency in formatting and grammar. 
  • Establish, document, and execute a procedure to ensure staff compliance with training requirements. 
  • Assemble welcome gift kits for new hires. 
  • Assist in other support roles, as requested. 

 

Across all of these duties, we will look to you to improve the processes used to complete them. During this stage of critical company growth, you will help identify ways to further enhance team efficiency. These improvements may be driven from your past experiences, your ability to connect with and solicit input from our team members, from research you do, and any other sources of inspiration.  

 

The People and Culture Intern will be based in our Boulder, CO, office. Most of your work will be done in the office because this role involves interfacing with various members of the Scout team. 

Requirements

This mostly administrative position provides exposure to the systems and processes needed to attract, advance, and empower a strong team. It requires a high capacity for work, a desire to help others succeed, and a facility with multiple technology platforms.  

 

The successful candidate’s background will look something like this: 

 

  • Demonstrated interest in and passion for renewable energy.  
  • IT fluent with experience on various platforms. (Microsoft Office required.) 
  • Creative and resourceful approach to solving problems efficiently and effectively. 
  • Detail-oriented self-motivator with exceptional organizational and communication skills. 
  • Dynamic interpersonal skills with the ability to use influence rather than authority to achieve desired outcomes. 
  • Ability to maintain information confidentiality and handle with discretion.  
  • Ability to multi-task and arbitrate between conflicting priorities with clear target setting and follow- through capability in a fast-paced work environment.  
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Timeline and Location 

The target start date for this role is late January/early February 2024. The internship will start part-time for the rest of the Spring Semester and become full-time for the summer.  

The People and Culture Intern will be based in our Boulder, CO, office. Most of your work will be done in the office because this role involves interfacing with various members of the Scout team.

Target base pay: $25/hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
