Our mission is to provide compassionate consulting services to local, state, federal and industry clients, active in disaster response, recovery, and preparedness. We will be on time, on target, and on budget with the services aligned to the evolving threats and hazards facing our nation.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Legal/Compliance Intern to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in legal and contract management within a dynamic small business environment. The intern will assist the legal and contract management team with a variety of tasks, including drafting, reviewing, and managing contracts, conducting legal research, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations. Interns will gain exposure to these areas while contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization's operations. Each Intern will have a specific work portfolio based on their skill sets and desired expertise.
The position will be guided by ACDC’s Corporate Values Platform in all activities.
Position Summary:

- Full Time or Part Time: Determined upon hire.
- Temporary/Seasonal/Regular: Temporary. 6/10 start date. 10 week Internship
- Compensation: $18/hour
- Travel/Location: Remote

Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities

- Contract Drafting and Review:
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and revising contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
- Ensure contracts are in compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Legal Research and Analysis:
- Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and legal precedents.
- Summarize findings and provide recommendations to the Executive team.
- Document Management:
- Maintain and organize legal files, contracts, and other documentation.
- Assist in the development and implementation of document management systems.
- Compliance and Risk Management:
- Support the legal team in monitoring and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in identifying potential legal risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Support federal government contracting compliance, including Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
- Administrative Support:
- Provide administrative support to the legal team, including scheduling meetings, preparing presentations, and maintaining records.
- Interns will be given the opportunity for shadowing experiences and exposure to various divisions and projects as available.
- In limited circumstances, Interns may be asked to assist in matters related to research and development, project management/administration, or other corporate operations.

Requirements
Experience and Education Required
- Currently enrolled in a law school or related program (3rd or 4th year) at an accredited university, college, or other educational facility.
- 0-2+ years’ beginner level knowledge/experience in contract law and legal principles.
- 0-2+ year’s customer service experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Experience and Education Preferred
- Current GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Proficiency in Salesforce.
- Experience with federal government contracting compliance.
- 1 year of previous legal, contract management, or compliance related internship, volunteering, or work experience.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The Internship position has no direct supervisory responsibility.
Expected Hours of Work
Schedule may vary and require work on evenings and weekends and dependability and punctuality are paramount.
Physical Demands
- Sitting or standing for hours at a time.
- Ability to work at a computer for prolonged periods of time if needed.
Work Environment
- The internship is considered 100% remote, or work from home.
Additional Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must pass company and any applicable client background check and reference check upon offer of employment.
- Eligibility to work in the United States is required.
