What the role involves:

As an experienced Financial Controller, you will serve as the primary accounting and financial reporting leader for the Hoskinson Family Office, responsible for establishing and maintaining sophisticated accounting infrastructure across multiple operating companies. This role combines technical expertise with strategic thinking to create cohesive financial systems that support complex operations ranging from healthcare and construction to agriculture and technology ventures.

  • Design and implement standardized accounting processes across all operating companies, ensuring consistency while adapting to specific operational differences.
  • Develop and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard organizational assets and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Create and manage comprehensive financial reporting frameworks that provide clear, consolidated visibility into all operations, including external investments and intercompany transactions.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with international and domestic requirements, including cross-border tax reporting and regulatory filings.
  • Manage and oversee the month-end and year-end close processes across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
  • Collaborate with the CFO and CIO to support investment operations, position reconciliation (tradefi and crypto assets), and strategic financial planning, including tax-efficient structures.
  • Lead the development of budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management processes across all operations, integrating domestic and international considerations.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics tailored to the needs of different operating units, ensuring actionable insights.
  • Develop and document tax optimization strategies between operating companies and investment entities.
  • Ensure compliance with international tax and regulatory laws, particularly as they pertain to ownership of foreign assets, cryptocurrencies, and personal use assets such as private aircraft.

Requirements

Who you are:

  • CPA certification with 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including multi-entity operations.
  • Proven experience managing complex accounting operations involving international tax considerations, multiple ownership structures, and cross-border transactions.
  • Strong technical knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and relevant regulatory frameworks, including FATCA and BEPS.
  • Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in position reconciliation for tradefi and crypto assets.
  • Successful track record of implementing and optimizing accounting and ERP systems across diverse business models.
  • History of managing complex audits involving international entities, intercompany transfers, and valuation of alternative assets.
  • Expertise in financial analysis, strategic planning, and tax planning for both individuals and operating companies.
  • Exceptional attention to detail while maintaining strategic perspective
  • Strong analytical skills and pattern recognition capabilities
  • Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly
  • Professional maturity and highest ethical standards
  • Comfort working in dynamic, evolving environments

It’s preferred that you will also have the following experience

  • Experience with family office operations or private company financial management.
  • Background in industries such as healthcare, construction, or agriculture.
  • Knowledge of cryptocurrency accounting practices, including valuation, taxation, and regulatory considerations.
  • Experience with ERP implementation and integration across multiple systems or entities.
  • Familiarity with investment portfolio accounting, including alternative assets, private equity, and real estate.
  • Strong understanding of international tax and compliance frameworks, including tax treaties, offshore structures, and tax-efficient estate planning.

The base salary for this position has a range of $170 up to $190k per year at the commencement of employment. Any offer is determined by overall experience and performance during the interview process. This is only part of the total compensation package.
