The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Corporate Controller is a key member of the Finance and Accounting organization and is directly responsible for coordinating the company’s financial close processes, ensuring appropriate financial reporting, leading the external audit and establishing policies, controls and procedures within the accounting function. The candidate must be a leader, be detail oriented, have strong organization and communication skills, and be hands-on.  This full-time role will interface daily with internal departments and upper management and the ideal candidate is detail-oriented and enjoys working in a fast-paced, high growth environment. This role is hybrid, based in our Boulder HQ.

What You’ll Be Doing

    • Manage the monthly and quarterly financial close activities by running a disciplined close process and coordinating activities and analysis with teams across the finance organization
    • Prepare and distribute recurring structure reports on company performance
    • Own the full-cycle accounting and consolidation processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, month end closing and reporting, audit and tax preparation, and more
    • Participate in the development of strategies to improve accounting operations effectiveness, including the development and execution of organizational, process and system changes
    • Establish and maintain internal controls and policies to prevent inaccuracies in financial statements and establish best practices
    • Coordinate the accounting implementation of acquisitions, including purchase accounting
    • Assist with technical accounting issues including the supporting the preparation of key accounting issue memos
    • Provide interpretation and application of accounting procedures, principles and pronouncements in accordance with GAAP
    • Assist with IPO preparedness
    • Coordinate the planning and execution of annual audits with our external auditors
    • Supervise and develop staff through hands-on training, guidance and performance reviews
    • Develop staff goals and key performance indicators to measure performance and ensure the department is performing at a high level
    • Other tasks as assigned by management

Requirements

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or Finance or related field. MBA or CPA preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Advanced Excel skills 
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Strong work ethic - ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines in a demanding detail-oriented environment
  • Self-motivated, time efficient and proactive with ability to work under minimum supervision
  • Confident in dealing with customers and senior management
  • Enthusiastic team player with desire to train/mentor, and willing to assist where necessary
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with department staff, supervisory personnel, associates, vendors and the general public
  • Strong communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Management reserves the right to make exceptions to the minimum qualifications

Compensation: $150,000 - $180,000
