Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive audits of government entities to assess compliance with laws, regulations, and policies
- Evaluate internal controls to identify risks and weaknesses and provide recommendations for improvement
- Review financial statements and records to ensure accuracy and integrity
- Assess the use of public funds and resources to ensure accountability and value for money
- Analyze government programs and initiatives to assess their effectiveness and impact
- Prepare detailed audit reports with findings and recommendations for management and stakeholders
- Collaborate with government officials, auditees, and other stakeholders throughout the audit process
- Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in government auditing
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA
- Proven experience in government auditing within a CPA firm
- Strong knowledge of government audit standards, regulations, and practices
- Experience with auditing software and financial management systems used in the public sector
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and ability to work with high levels of accuracy
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Understanding of government structures, policies, and processes
