Position Overview:

Samsung SDS America is looking for an experienced Systems Administrator to join our R&D Lab Support team. In this role, you'll be tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of hardware, software, and related infrastructure within our R&D environment. Your primary focus will be on enhancing system stability and performance, bolstering security measures, and maintaining continuous system health monitoring. Your responsibilities span across Linux, Windows, and application systems crucial to our infrastructure and R&D activities. This role encompasses system administration, operational support, maintenance, and contributions to ongoing research and development efforts to ensure uninterrupted operations and drive innovation forward.

 

This is an onsite position at our office in San Jose, CA.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain Linux, Windows, and application systems supporting IT infrastructure and R&D activities
  • Conduct System Administration duties, ensuring system efficiency, support, and continuous operation for R&D functions
  • Proactively monitor system health and performance metrics
  • Identify and troubleshoot system bottlenecks to optimize performance
  • Establish and uphold security protocols to safeguard systems and data integrity against unauthorized access
  • Execute system upgrades and installations with minimal disruption, ensuring seamless user experience
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps
  • Collaborate with IT colleagues and R&D teams to understand system requirements and provide technical support
  • Participate in the physical aspects of system management, including installing hardware installation, server migration, and equipment setup

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator or in a similar role
  • Proven experience with Linux, Windows, and various server administration tools
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts and protocols
  • Familiarity with web-based technologies (reverse proxy servers, SSL certificate configuration, three-tier architecture, service-oriented architecture, enterprise service bus, HTTP, browser differences)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks associated with hardware installation and migration (Rack and Stack).
  • Able to move servers to and from main DC to the colocation and labs
  • Excellent organizational, communication, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Able and willing to commute to the office in San Jose, CA 5 days per week
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Certification in CompTIA Linux+, RHCSA, and/or RHCE
