Seeking passionate & committed Summer Camp Youth Counselors in San Francisco!
Earn great pay while coaching a fun and non-competitive sports camp for K-5th in a fun outdoor park environment. The position is full-time (30 hours/week) from June 3rd to August 16th, 2024.
Do you love working with youth, teaching sports and wellness, and encouraging youth to have fun and grow? As a Summer Camp Youth Counselor with ANTS (America's Next Talented Stars), you'll help with the execution of our 2024 summer camp in San Francisco called Sports Explorers. You'll work with a small and passionate team of coaches, and your mission will be to make summer sports camp magical for a group of 20-25 youth ages 5-11. ANTS summer camps run for 10 total weeks starting June 3rd.
We provide all necessary training, equipment, and support. Being an ANTS Summer Camp Counselor is a great way to develop coaching and leadership skills while serving our local community. And the pay is great!
Responsibilities:
- Work with the Camp Director to establish the week's curriculum and ensure camp coaches perform their duties.
- Interact positively with parents, teachers, and other camp staff. Conduct the welcome and closing ceremonies each day.
- Show up on time with positive energy and lead a FUN & safe daily summer camp for kids ages 5-11
- Teach the FUNdamentals of sports through a cohesive and game-filled lesson plan.
- Ensure a safe and reliable program by arriving on time each week on your program day for the entire duration of the camp.
- Set up before and clean up after your program.
Location:
ANTS summer camps will run at Grattan Playground in the Cole Valley neighborhood of San Francisco.
Schedule:
Our upcoming summer camp season runs Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. You must be available for the entire season window:
- June 3rd – June 7th
- June 10th – June 14th
- June 17th – June 21st
- June 24th – June 28th
- July 8th – July 12th
- July 15th – July 19th
- July 22nd – July 26th
- July 29th – Aug 2nd
- Aug 5th – Aug 9th
- Aug 12th – Aug 16th
Requirements
- Transportation: Coaches must have reliable transportation to get to their coaching sites. You may be required to bring equipment to & from class, so a vehicle is very helpful.
- Responsible & professional: Arrive on time to each practice and keep accurate attendance. Interact with parents and school staff positively.
- Communication: You will communicate with ANTS, parents, and site staff through email and phone.
- Enthusiastic & fun: ANTS coaches are positive role models for our students. We expect that you share our deep beliefs in the larger themes we are promoting: sportsmanship, wellness, and positivity.
- Patience: Be a patient person who understands young children & their need to develop at their own pace.
- Experience: Experience as a player or coach (at least two years) is highly valuable, though not necessarily required.
- Background check: A successful candidate must pass a Federal & State Background Check and/or FBI Fingerprinting (Livescan) and test negative for TB test (within the last 4 years).
