Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Field Technician llI

Our partner is seeking a Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Field Technician III in Huntington Beach, CA. This role involves guiding and leading daily field crew operations to ensure comprehensive and accurate utility mapping.

Responsibilities

• Operate SUE utility locating and designating equipment in complex utility infrastructure environments
• Complete detailed and accurate daily reports, forms, and field sketches electronically and by hand
• Supervise daily SUE field crew activities and train other crew members
• Represent and communicate with clients, sub-contractors, and third parties during field activities
• Maintain, clean, and operate vehicles, equipment, tools, and supplies
• Facilitate daily Tailgate Safety Meetings
• Perform daily Job Hazard Analysis with crew members
• Drive commercial motor vehicles (CDL license not required)
• Direct safety set-up for proper maintenance of traffic signage
• Complete monthly equipment inventory for supervisor reorder

Requirements

• High School Diploma / GED
• 2+ years experience as a SUE Field Technician II
• Ability to read and interpret utility company prints and design plans
• Good oral and written communication skills and attention to detail
• Valid driver's license with good driving record
• Ability to secure client-required identity verification (e.g., TWIC, SWAC)
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical (U.S. only)
• Ability to obtain a DOT medical card for CMV operation (U.S. only)
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks necessary to operate heavy tools and equipment
• Ability to work outdoors in all climates
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, including up to 2-week continuous stays
• OSHA Safety certifications are a plus
