Full Job Description

The Sr. Plumbing Estimator plays a critical role in the construction and contracting industry, responsible for preparing detailed and accurate estimates for commercial plumbing projects. This individual analyzes project specifications, collaborates with stakeholders, and ensures that all cost estimates align with company goals and industry standards. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in commercial plumbing systems, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive plumbing estimates.
  • Perform material takeoffs, labor estimates, and cost evaluations for commercial plumbing systems.
  • Utilize estimating software to create accurate and detailed proposals.
  • Prepare and submit competitive bids while ensuring profitability and accuracy.
  • Analyze and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to incorporate into final estimates.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather relevant project information.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure alignment on project scope and expectations.
  • Communicate with vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing and ensure the availability of materials.
  • Provide technical support and guidance during the pre-construction and bidding phases.
  • Stay updated on market trends, material costs, and labor rates.
  • Monitor competitor pricing and industry standards to maintain competitiveness.
  • Ensure estimates comply with company standards, client requirements, and applicable building codes.
  • Identify potential risks and provide value engineering solutions to optimize costs without compromising quality.
  • Maintain detailed records of estimates, revisions, and final bid submissions.
  • Prepare reports and summaries for management review.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in commercial plumbing estimating.
  • Proficiency in estimating software
  • Strong knowledge of commercial plumbing systems, materials, and installation methods.
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Project).
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide junior team members, fostering skill development and professional growth.
  • Proven expertise in Business Development and Sales, consistently securing new projects and identifying growth opportunities.

Work Environment:

Salary Range: $125,000 to $180,000 DOE
