Full Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Sr. Piping Estimator to join our team. The Estimator will play a critical role in analyzing project requirements, developing accurate cost estimates, and supporting our piping operations in commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of piping systems, materials, and construction processes, as well as excellent analytical and communication skills.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for commercial mechanical piping projects.
- Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to determine labor, material, and time requirements.
- Develop comprehensive bid proposals, ensuring alignment with project scope and client requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to clarify technical aspects of bids.
- Identify appropriate materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Request quotes from vendors and subcontractors, evaluating responses for competitiveness and compliance.
- Perform quantity take-offs for piping, valves, fittings, and other mechanical components.
- Assess potential risks and constraints, incorporating contingencies into cost estimates.
- Serve as a point of contact for clients during the estimation and bid process.
- Present and explain cost estimates to internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, labor rates, and material pricing.
- Ensure estimates comply with local building codes and safety regulations.
- Review completed projects to assess estimation accuracy and refine future methodologies.
- Suggest improvements to estimation tools and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
- 5 plus years of experience in piping estimation in commercial construction.
- Proficiency in estimation software, specific experience with Timberline Software is a plus
- Strong understanding of piping systems, materials, and installation methods.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide junior team members, fostering skill development and professional growth.
- Proven expertise in Business Development and Sales, consistently securing new projects and identifying growth opportunities.
Work Environment:
- Office-based with occasional site visits to gather project details or assess work conditions.
- May require flexible working hours to meet project deadlines.

Salary Range: $125,000 to $180,000 DOE
