We are looking for a Sourcing Manager to drive strategic sourcing deliverables. The position requires the ability to work with supply chain, engineering, science, finance, and legal teams as well as contract manufacturers and suppliers. The position also requires strong analytical skills, critical thinking skills, negotiation skills, a strong technical understanding of battery technology and manufacturing, and the ability to operate in a dynamic environment on multiple projects with competing or changing priorities.
What you will do:
- Develop and execute battery sourcing strategies for next-generation wearable consumer electronics, encompassing a wide range of battery technologies (e.g., lithium-ion, solid-state, thin-film, bio-batteries).
- Lead supplier engagements to identify and qualify new battery technologies and suppliers, build strong relationships with key battery manufacturers, and negotiate competitive contracts.
- Conduct market analysis to identify emerging battery technologies, assess market trends, and forecast future supply and demand.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product management, engineering, and operations to define battery requirements, ensure timely delivery, and optimize total cost of ownership.
- Drive innovation by identifying and evaluating novel battery solutions that enable unique form factors and differentiated user experiences in wearable devices (e.g., increased energy density, improved safety, faster charging).
- Manage supplier performance through regular reviews, address quality and delivery issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain risk mitigation plans to ensure a stable and reliable supply chain for critical battery components.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in battery sourcing, procurement, and supply chain management.
- Champion sustainability initiatives throughout the battery supply chain, including responsible sourcing, recycling, and end-of-life management.
- Work closely with engineering and operations to ensure the availability of materials to meet development and production schedules. Make purchase orders for prototyping and mass production as required.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of supplier information, pricing, contracts, and performance metrics in agreed company systems.
- Contribute to continuous development of Oura sourcing working practices.
This is a Hybrid US role, the candidate should be based in the San Francisco Bay Area and able to come into the office 1-2 days per week.

- Familiarity with electronic design and manufacturing processes (e.g., battery management systems, charging circuits)
- Strong analytical and creative problem solving skills
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally as needed
