Full Job Description
Internships are an excellent way for students to gain experience in a new environment, growing personally while they are contributing to the goals of the organization in which they are working. Interns at CTI will join a software development team directed by senior staff to design and develop the next generation of CTI's software products.
As a Software Engineer Intern, you will be a member of an Agile Software Development team participating in the development on-site.
- You will also be a part of a larger team which includes attending scrum meetings, design and code peer reviews, coding and testing of software that will provide real world impact.
- You will gain experience researching potential solutions to meet customer needs, generating a suite of automation scripts.
- You will work with a team of engineers and software developers on the documentation of software capabilities and projects.
- Collaborate with the software development team to design, develop, and test software solutions
- Assist in the development of software specifications and documentation
- Participate in software code reviews and provide feedback for improvement
- Perform software debugging and troubleshooting to resolve issues
- Contribute to the development of new features and enhancements
- Support the integration and testing of software systems
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends
Requirements
Necessary Skills and Experience
- Currently enrollment in a Bachelors’ or Master's program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
- Academic or work experience with high-level coding languages and scripting languages, such as Java, Python or C#
- The ability to obtain a US security clearance post-start date. U.S. Citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Beneficial Skills and Experience
- Academic or work experience in programming, analytical and/or math skills
- Academic or work experience applying Software Development concepts, object-oriented design, design patterns, activities, and approaches
- Knowledge of Domains such as, Cloud, Web
- Academic or work experience in UI/UX design
- Academic or work experience in a graphical user interface
- Familiarity with network programming
- Academic or work experience in digital signal processing
- Academic or work experience in data management

Typical Internship Duration
Internships will be a full-time position with a duration of 10-12 weeks. Potential for continued part time work during the academic school year. The desired outcome from an internship at CTI is for the participant to have the opportunity to apply what they are learning in school, learn how “real world” projects do not always execute in the same manner as academic ones do and to educate candidates on software development techniques and processes of CTI. Additionally, an internship is a great opportunity for both CTI and the candidate to determine if they are a good fit for the company, with the ultimate goal being to transition to full-time employment once school and/or military experience is complete.
