Full Job Description
As a Yard Laborer, you are responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our facility while providing excellent customer service and maintaining safety standards. Radiating friendliness, ensuring safety, and delivering a seamless disposal experience is at the core of your role, making our customers' lives easier, one visit at a time.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Retrieve and review load sheets for deliveries scheduled
- Safely load, unload, and secure load for safe transport on trucks and trailers
- Clean, maintained, and stocked toilets, sinks, holding tanks, and fence
- Maintain clean wash pad and storage area
- Clean loose trash off trucks/trailers and ground around trucks that spill during the loading and unloading process to maintain clean sites and safety along roads and highways.
- Courteously interacts with drivers or the general public to answer questions or respond to requests. Notifies superiors of issues requiring management action
- Maintains and submits load sheets and daily site inspection paperwork
- Follow instructions from supervisors and communicate effectively with team members.
- Hand-pull special items and conduct load checks for prohibited/add-on items.
Compensation:
- $19.00-$22.00
Requirements
Basic Qualifications
- Knowledge of the forklift and its components and the basic maintenance requirements for safe operations. Ability to read and write well enough to complete load sheets.
- Must have a forklift license or be willing to obtain one within the first few months of employment
- Must demonstrate the ability to maneuver forklift into and out of minimum clearance spaces, using mirrors to back stances up to approximately 120 feet
- Must demonstrate the ability to connect, disconnect the trailer safely, and secure loads
- Able to follow safe operating practices, including lockout/tag out procedures to ensure the truck is inoperative when loading and unloading truck and trailer
- Monitor operations to detect loose debris, using mirrors or direct sight and/or listening for debris falling onto trucks during loading and unloading operations. Visually scans truck, trailer, and work area before and after loading and unloading trucks, trailers, and working in the wash pad area
- Able to follow safe operating practices and procedures
- Ability to use pressure washers to clean deliverables and safely use and maintain proper safe storage of cleaning chemicals
- Able to learn and use interpersonal skills relating to good customer service
Physical Requirement
- Walking, bending, climbing, crouching, driving, sitting, twisting, reaching, pushing/pulling, gripping/grasping controls
- Ability to effectively communicate with dispatch/supervisors
- Able to live at least seventy-five pounds as needed daily
- Stamina and flexibility to maintain a steady work pace
