 THIS POSITION IS IN THE OFFICE

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists tax manager in preparing tax documents.  

  • Prepare cost segregation analysis for completed construction jobs for assigned companies
  • Prepare and post journal entries for the following items for assigned portfolio of companies:
    • Depreciation
    • Commission and financing fee amortization
    • Sales, purchases and bank loans
    • Allocation of land and building basis to appropriate profit centers after completion of construction or lot line adjustments
    • Accrual to cash adjustments
    • Cost segregation analysis
    • Like-kind exchanges
    • Close retained earnings
  • Prepare tax returns and venture statements for assigned companies
  • Identify potential issues and/or areas of concern within the tax returns and venture statements, determine appropriate tax treatment through research and collaborate with Tax Manager.
  • Prepare financial statements for various partnerships and individuals
  • Assist tax manager with gathering and preparing information for quarterly tax estimates
  • Review financial statements for assigned companies on a quarterly basis to ensure information is current and accurate.

Requirements

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in accounting or finance; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Qualifications:

  • Extensive individual/corporate/partnership tax knowledge including tiered partnership structures and multi-state preparation.
  • Strong accounting, analytical, and research skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of tax code, compliance, and procedures with emphasis in partnership taxation.
  • Familiarity with U.S. federal, state, and local reporting requirements.
  • Strong experience with a variety of tax operations and ability to assist with process improvements.
  • Strong ability to utilize project management and accounting best practices to organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as the ability to work well with team members in the organization.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • We are looking for a candidate with 5+ years of experience.  
  • Preferred candidates have a current CPA license and a master’s degree in an accounting or tax discipline.
  • Experience with tax software, accounting software, fixed asset software, and Excel.
