The Information & Technical Services Department has an opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer, Cloud Services. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and have experience with design, implementation, and managing enterprise systems; diagnoses and resolves routine to highly complex issues; monitors and verifies integrity and availability of infrastructures, resources, and key processes; analyzes capacity and performance and makes upgrade recommendations; develops detailed diagrams, architecture documentation, and standard operating procedures. Enjoy a flexible telecommuting schedule (3 days remote, 2 days on-site) as you support these functions:

  • Designs, implements, supports all the enterprise applications, hardware, software and manages a mixed environment of Microsoft, VMWare, and vendor appliance solutions; maintains remote systems and vendor relationships with offsite cloud service provider; assesses and recommends solutions to improve performance; automate tasks; maximizes capacity and resiliency; applies operating system patches, firmware updates, and vulnerability remediation according to cyber security best practices.
  • Designs, implements, and supports the follow technologies:
    • Microsoft Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022 Operating system
    • Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Azure services, Azure AD, Intune, MDM, O365, AWS Cloud services, EC2, Cloud hosted systems
    • VMware Vsphere, VCenter, ESXi hypervisor, Dell VxRail
    • Support and manage 3rd party software: Force Point, SolarWinds, Barracuda (spam filtering and WAF), Infoblox, Cohesity
  • Analyzes, troubleshoots, resolves complex system hardware and software issues; increases systems efficiency, accuracy, and consistency, using automation and other scripting tools; ensures disaster recovery and data integrity by maintaining local, off-site, and immutable backup copies; verifies completion of scheduled nightly backup jobs; develops and executes contingency and disaster recovery plans.
  • Maintains cybersecurity solutions including antivirus, anti-malware, web content filters, multifactor authentication, email filters and data encryption; partners with internal and external auditors to conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and audits.
  • Monitors and analyzes the performance of systems, verifies integrity and availability of all server resources, systems, and key processes; analyzes systems capacity, configures systems, and makes upgrade recommendations.
  • Develops system administrator procedures and documentation for managing operating systems and host-based applications; maintains Active Directory group policies, user accounts, profiles, and access privileges; manage Microsoft Intune and Azure AD, creates virtual private network accounts for external access; maintains the internal certificate authority, external SSL certificates, and DNS records; participates in a rotating 24x7 On-Call schedule for critical systems; performs related duties as assigned.
  • Mentors, coaches, and helps to develop more junior staff members. Works collaboratively and effectively with all stakeholders and vendors.

  • Customer & Personal Service: Provides assistance and support to internal and external stakeholders on a diverse and specialized range of IT related functions with a timely, friendly, and welcoming demeanor.
  • Project Coordination: Ability to determine appropriate measures to achieve project goals and prioritize the measures; able to fully engage project participants to deliver an acceptable result in the time allocated.
  • Leveraging Technology: Proficient in wired, wireless, local and area wide network systems.

Requirements

Experience & Education**:

  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in information Technology and associated systems, networking, or security systems of which one year of experience was serving as a project lead or supervisory capacity over complex technical assignments. and/or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in computer science, management information systems or a closely related field.

Preferred, but not required certifications:

  • Microsoft Azure Administrator (AZ-104), Microsoft Certified Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate (AZ-800, AZ-801), Microsoft 365 Certified Fundamentals (MS-900), CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), ITIL.

The hiring salary is a minimum of $113,702.

The salary range for a Senior Systems Engineer is $97,181 - $155,489.
