San Diego Foundation is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Manager to support the essential activities focused on recruitment, DEI and community engagement on the People Team. The Senior Manager will be primarily responsible for recruitment, community engagement, internship development and championing diversity, equity and inclusion at San Diego Foundation. We are looking for someone that is a go-getter and willing to step in to help with other People Team projects as needed.
This position reports to the Senior Director of People, Culture & Diversity and collaborates closely with our Senior Manager, People, Culture & Diversity and HR Analyst. This is a hybrid role with weekly onsite requirements at our San Diego Headquarter Office in Liberty Station.
Essential Responsibilities:
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Leader and Champion
- Develop and communicate the vision around DEI efforts, provide in-house training to team members at all levels, and share successes, challenges, and lessons learned.
- Design and implement DEI education and initiatives with diverse stakeholders to create alignment, program development, content creation, internal communication, and metrics to measure outcomes as needed (e.g., 1:1 coaching, professional development, large group facilitation, survey data tracking/analysis)
- Strategize and implement DEI initiatives identified to foster an inclusive team environment and attract diverse talent.
- Oversee day-to-day operations of DEI education, working collaboratively with directors to manage all aspects of curriculum development, training, scheduling, implementation, data collection and reporting, budget monitoring, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Curate, develop and socialize DEI learning resources and toolkits.
- Create alignment with Executive Leadership’s goals and priorities with program development and execution.
- Demonstrate expertise with best practices, cutting-edge theory, and organizational change theories to ensure a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace.
- Develop content, coordinate, and analyze research focused on DEI practices such as unconscious bias, microaggressions, cultural humility, restorative justice, and anti-racism.
- Develop, initiate, and lead internship programs focused on historically marginalized communities, in support of talent development pipeline.
- Liaise and be a key leader with DEI Committee to deepen DEI initiatives and education throughout the organization.
Recruitment and Employer Brand
- Lead the full life-cycle recruiting to attract the most talented and diverse candidates.
- Position San Diego Foundation as an employer of choice through marketing of our Employee Value Proposition to attract and retain top talent.
- Elevate SDF’s employer brand in the community.
- Build and maintain relationships in the market through both established and updated channels.
- Leverage different networks including personal networks, SDF Team members/board, and beyond to keep a competitive edge in our recruitment efforts.
- Build a pipeline of candidates from various backgrounds to anticipate hiring needs while maintaining relationships with them on and off recruiting periods, including part-time, seasonal, and temp hires when necessary.
- Drive expert knowledge in market intelligence/research/insights/sourcing to outreach, attraction, and assessment.
- Build relationships and recruiting from key universities and workforce development organizations to diversify candidate pipeline.
- Collaborate with department managers and People Team to identify, draft and refine detailed job descriptions and hiring criteria
- Develop innovative solutions to elevate the hiring process.
Team Development and Stakeholder Partnership
- Partner and build relationships with key stakeholders to identify strategy and creative methods to address hiring needs, both immediate and long term.
- Collaborate with departmental hiring managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Establish collaborative, client, and partner focused relationships with hiring manager by consistently connecting with key stakeholders to determine the effectiveness of recruiting plans.
- Regularly communicate recruitment status to Leadership, Manager, Finance and People Team.
- Train and develop hiring managers for inclusive hiring best practices to ensure hiring members are set up for success when recruiting for these positions.
- Develop repeatable processes and find ways to streamline recruitment cycle.
- Collaborate with People Teams, Finance and the Executive Team to develop compelling offers.
- Keep all records up to date in ATS - Maintain recruiting software and workflow management.

Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in recruitment or other similar functions and the ability to quickly learn the organization’s internal systems and procedure.
- 2+ years of experience crafting, building and leading effective, measurable DEI programs, initiatives and education.
- Passionate about belonging and inclusion
- Passion for the work and mission of San Diego Foundation to inspire enduring philanthropy and enable community solutions to improve the quality of life in our region.
- Ability to work independently and successfully organize and prioritize multiple projects and meet deliverables and deadlines.
- Demonstrated organization, time, and project management skills; ability to “right size” projects.
- Strong emotional intelligence with excellent interpersonal skills and customer service orientation.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where adapting to change is necessary and the ability to multi-task successfully is critical.
- Successful experience in guiding leadership and influencing partners throughout an organization.
- Advanced knowledge with Applicant Tracking Systems (Workable, a plus!) and Linkedin Recruiter
- Advanced knowledge and proficiency with computer software applications: MS Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Asana, and Google Docs; database/contact management software experience and data visualization software experience preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently; additional language ability, including Spanish, a plus
- Must live in San Diego County
Education
- Bachelors degree in HR or related field, or equivalent work experience
- PHR or SHRM-CP, preferred
- SHRM Talent Acquisition Specialty Credential, a plus

Benefits
Pay Range: $90,000 - $110,000 per year
