We are looking for a Senior Algorithm Scientist to join us to build our next-gen products. You will be one of the key team members developing new exciting sensing capacities and user-facing features for Oura’s next-gen HW products.
What you will do:
- Contribute to the research, development and deployment of signal processing and/or machine learning algorithms for Oura’s new health sensing features/products
- Design and support data collection internal and external studies to develop, evaluate, benchmark and improve new biomarkers and algorithms
- Work together with Oura’s hardware (electronics, mechanics, optics), firmware and product teams to productize and optimize next-generation products
- Document, summarize, and present data analysis and algorithm performance results with concrete actionable recommendations for broad audience on a regular basis
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams and communicate with stakeholders around the globe
Requirements
We would love to have you on our team if you have:
- PhD degree with three years of work experience OR MSc degree with five years of work experience in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering or a related field
- 3+ years of solid programming skills in Python and experience with code collaboration tools (git, peer review, etc). Experience with C/C++ is a plus
- Experience with signal processing methods and time-series analysis (FIR/IIR filters, Kalman filtering, adaptive filtering, stochastic processes, etc)
- Experience with multiple machine learning and statistical modeling approaches.
- Experience with biosignal sensing and wearable hardware (including hardware prototypes) is a plus. Knowledge of electrophysiology is a huge plus.
- A pragmatic can-do attitude and delivery-focused mindset: you can move quickly and prioritize effectively
- Flexible schedule and good asynchronous communication skills to work with Oura’s European teams (two to three times a week)
- This role is based in San Diego, with at least three days in office per week (at our Carmel Mountain location)

Oura takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location. US locations are categorized into tiers based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. While most offers will be closer to the starting range, successful candidates' pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, internal peer equity, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
