King Elementary is seeking a passionate, dynamic, and empathetic Restorative Justice (RJ) Coordinator who embodies the principles of Restorative Justice and is committed to fostering a school environment where every student feels valued, respected, and heard. The RJ Coordinator plays a vital role in cultivating a positive school culture and climate by integrating restorative practices into the daily life of our school. This position requires a proactive educator skilled in conflict resolution, relationship building, and community engagement.

Benefits:

  • Hourly rate: $26.92-28.85 (depending on experience)
  • Work hours: M-F, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to stay calm in stressful situations
  • Ability to determine the function of a student’s behavior 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with parents, students, teachers, and staff with strong oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willing to work with all teachers to support students with knowledge of restorative justice principles and practices
  • Provide professional development, training, and/or presentations to build the capacity of the school site staff in the implementation of restorative practices, both on the preventative and responsive sides of the continuum
  • Experience in conflict resolution, mediation, or counseling
  • Ability to handle emotionally charged situations with empathy and professionalism

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate restorative circles between teachers, students, and staff in the Wellness Center
  • Facilitate restorative practices during lunch/recess 
  • Conduct 1-on-1 check-ins with students in need
  • Attend SSTs and parent meetings to provide support and strategize interventions as needed 
  • Help collect, synthesize, and analyze office disciplinary referrals (ODRs) and suspension data
  • Co-plan and co-facilitate monthly Restorative Practices Working Group meetings
  • Attend and participate in weekly CARE meetings 
  • Attend and participate in weekly Systems Team meetings 
  • Assist with arrival/dismissal at the school doors 
  • Advocate for restorative justice within the community and work to raise awareness of its benefits
  • Collect data and report on the outcomes of restorative justice programs, including recidivism rates, participant satisfaction, and community impact.
