Full Job Description

Onlife is seeking a motivated and passionate Research Intern to join our team. As a Research Intern, you will be empowered to become a key contributor to securing funding for groundbreaking projects in mapping and spatial technologies.

Your main responsibilities will include but not limited to:

Grant Research and Identification:

  • Conduct in-depth research using online databases across international jurisdictions (e.g., Grants.gov, Foundation Directory Online) and industry publications to identify potential grant opportunities that align with our company's goals in mapping and spatial technologies.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive tracking system to categorise and prioritise grants based on eligibility criteria, funding amounts, deadlines, and potential fit with our research interests.
  • Analyse grant application materials from successful projects to understand key elements and tailor our proposals for a competitive edge.

Spatial Technology Research:

  • Research emerging spatial technologies and their potential applications for Onlife’s projects and future endeavours.
  • Prepare summaries of relevant spatial technologies, highlighting their functionalities, benefits, limitations, and potential integration with our existing workflows.
  • Analyse case studies on how similar technologies have been utilised in other industries to gain insights for innovative applications in our field.

Grant Proposal Development:

  • Assist in drafting compelling grant proposals by compiling relevant information, research findings, and data to address the specific requirements of each grant opportunity.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments and technical staff to develop a clear and concise project narrative that showcases the significance of our proposed work, its impact, and alignment with the funder's mission.
  • Ensure the technical sections of the proposal accurately represent the proposed methodology, outlining technologies used, data collection/analysis plans, and implementation strategies.
  • Become a pro at proofreading and editing draft proposals, guaranteeing clarity, accuracy, and adherence to all application guidelines and deadlines.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a well-organized and searchable database to store grant opportunities, research findings, and spatial technology information for easy reference and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Participate in meetings with potential funding partners (as needed) to gain a deeper understanding of their priorities and tailor proposals to meet their specific interests.
  • Assist with any additional tasks related to grant research, proposal development, or ongoing communication with funding agencies, as directed by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and synthesise information from a variety of sources.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adept at crafting clear and concise reports and proposals.
  • Proficient in using research databases and online resources.
  • A strong interest in mapping, spatial technologies, and their applications.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
