Research Engineer, Power Systems

We are seeking an outstanding Power Systems Research Engineer with specialized experience in power systems grid interconnection and renewable energy technologies. The role is integral to advancing our Interconnection Concierge platform and optimizing its capabilities in renewable energy integration across various utilities and geographic locations. The successful candidate will drive product initiatives, develop sophisticated simulation models and algorithms, and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to advance grid interconnection automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead product development efforts focused on grid interconnection, including simulation and optimization of power systems with a strong emphasis on integrating renewable energy sources.
• Develop and apply advanced simulation models for technical feasibility studies, particularly in scenarios with high levels of renewable energy penetration.
• Perform detailed analysis of grid stability, reliability, and efficiency.
• Stay current with advancements in grid interconnection technologies, renewable energy trends, and relevant regulatory developments.
• Contribute to grant writing and proposal development to secure funding for projects.

Requirements

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
• Extensive experience with grid interconnection power systems simulation, including proficiency with relevant software tools and programming languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python, PSCAD, PowerWorld).
• Proven expertise in renewable energy technologies and their integration into power grids.
• Demonstrated track record of research publications in reputable journals and presentations at conferences.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address complex technical challenges.
• Strong communication skills, capable of conveying complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3+ years of industry experience in power systems simulation and renewable energy technologies.
• Experience with advanced control strategies, grid modernization technologies, or machine learning applications in power systems.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements related to renewable energy and grid interconnection.
• Experience in leading research projects or teams.
