Requirements
The research associate level II position at Direct Biologics will perform studies and supporting functions that will advance Direct Biologics’ world leading efforts to develop life changing extracellular vesicle-based therapeutics for the treatment of acute and chronic lung, GI and Neurological disorders. This position will provide scientific support for assay development and mechanism of action studies with the R & D team located in Poway/San Diego, CA. In this role, the RA will:
· Conduct in vitro assays using state of the art nanoparticle characterization methods, cell and organoid culture, immunochemical and biochemical assays, quantitative PCR analysis, sample preparation for proteomics, and miRNA-omics, preclinical and mechanism of action studies.
· Assist in data analysis and generation of reports, and laboratory notebook records.
· Assist in maintaining lab cleanliness and safety, prepare buffers and solutions, and perform other general lab duties.
· Compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies will be essential to be successful.
· Occasionally work a little longer or on a weekend day if the experiment requires it
STATUS: Full time,Exempt and onsite.
Salary range: 80-100K/yr plus standard benefits; relocation not available for this position
REPORTING STRUCTURE:
· Position reports to the Principal Scientist but will also work with the Lab Operations Manager to assist in science-based support functions on occasion.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience with human cell culture and characterization, protein characterization assays (ELISAs, immunostaining-based assays, fluorescent microscopy, western blotting), quantitative PCR, flow cytometry, RNA and protein isolation methods.
• Strong written and oral skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in data analysis and presentation applications including Microsoft Office apps and statistical software desired
• Must be highly flexible to respond to urgent needs and directional changes in a start-up environment but also have the attention to detail required to execute studies that will be reviewed by the FDA and other regulatory authorities.
• Familiarity of GLP compliant methods and documentation practices.
EDUCATION & EXPECTED EXPERIENCE
· Education: BA or MS in biotechnology, biomedical engineering, cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, or other similar biology related majors.
· Minimum of 2 years biotech based-work experience in cell culture, biochemical, or molecular biology preferred.
