About Pratham
Founded in 1995 to provide education to children in Mumbai slums, Pratham (meaning "first" in Sanskrit) has evolved into one of India's largest and most effective non-governmental education organizations. We collaborate with governments, communities, parents, teachers, and volunteers, employing innovative interventions to address educational gaps. Our mission, "every child in school and learning well," is the driving force behind our efforts to impact the lives of India's children, from leadership to field teams.
Operating in 21 of India's 29 states, Pratham reaches millions of children and youth annually, spanning from Kashmir to Tamil Nadu. Our methodologies have transcended borders through ASER (Annual Status of Education Report), India's largest citizen-led assessment, inspiring similar assessments in fourteen countries worldwide.
Pratham USA relies on dedicated volunteers and operates through 13 chapters across the United States. These chapters raise awareness and financial support for our initiatives on the ground. With a prestigious four-star rating from Charity Navigator, placing us in the top 3% of all nonprofits in the nation, we demonstrate responsible financial practices, unwavering accountability, and transparent operations.
The Role
Pratham USA is seeking a Regional Development Manager to design, implement, and monitor fund development opportunities, focusing primarily on mid-level and board gifts, in the West Region. This region includes chapters in Seattle, San Francisco, LA/Southern California, and Phoenix. The Regional Development Manager will preferably be based in Seattle or LA and will collaborate closely with Board members, volunteers, and the Pratham USA team. Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy Operations, the manager will work in close partnership with the Major Accounts team.
Pratham USA is looking for an entrepreneurial individual with experience in fundraising and board and chapter management. The ideal candidate will have an exceptional level of personal responsibility and be skilled at persuasively conveying our message to secure financial resources.
Requirements
Donor Portfolio Management: Personally oversee and cultivate a portfolio of 150-200 donors, aiming to establish long-term relationships. Track and steward this portfolio to upgrade donors within the mid-level giving tier, identifying potential candidates for board membership and major gift giving.
Engagement and Fundraising Strategies: Collaborate with chapter board leadership and team to plan and implement local engagement and fundraising strategies. Focus on engaging current and lapsed donors, expanding the Pratham USA footprint, and raising awareness and funds in the West region.
Growth Opportunities: Identify opportunities to increase brand awareness and expand the donor pipeline.
Chapter Board Management: Oversee chapter boards by organizing quarterly board meetings, soliciting board commitments, motivating and supporting board members as Pratham advocates, and managing the onboarding and offboarding process in consultation with Chapter Leadership.
Event Strategy and Execution: Develop and assist in executing local galas, salons, and other cultivation events in collaboration with the national events team and board committees. Take responsibility for fundraising activities and provide logistical support at local events.
Donor-Centric Communications: Ensure consistent donor-centric communication in all materials, including solicitations, acknowledgments, stewardship efforts, and CRM integration.
Representation: Represent Pratham at local giving opportunities.
Special Projects: Deliver special projects and campaigns as needed.
