Full Job Description

Symmetrio is recruiting for a Radiation Therapist for our client, a large global medical device company. The ideal candidate will provide essential support in administering radiation therapy to patients, working closely with the radiation oncology team to deliver treatments as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. This role involves preparing patients for therapy, ensuring precise equipment setup, and maintaining safety and accuracy throughout each procedure

This is an onsite role located in the San Francisco metro area, offering a competitive salary range of $140,000 to $160,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Radiation Oncologists and other team members to deliver prescribed treatments to patients in accordance with established protocols.
  • Conduct daily pre-treatment procedures, including verification of patient identity and treatment plan specifics.
  • Prepare and position patients for radiation therapy, ensuring comfort and proper alignment with immobilization devices.
  • Operate radiation equipment (e.g., linear accelerators) with precision and adherence to safety standards.
  • Monitor patients during treatment sessions, observing for and addressing any reactions or issues.
  • Document all aspects of the treatment process, including machine setup, dose delivery, and patient reactions, in compliance with healthcare regulations and policies.
  • Maintain and calibrate radiation therapy equipment, reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Support radiation safety procedures, safeguarding patients, staff, and self from unnecessary exposure.
  • Participate in patient education by explaining treatment processes, potential side effects, and post-treatment care.
  • Work collaboratively with the radiation oncology team to manage schedules, maintain treatment continuity, and optimize patient care.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or Bachelor’s degree in Radiation Therapy or a related field.
  • Current ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification in Radiation Therapy.
  • State licensure (if applicable).
  • 1+ years of clinical experience in Radiation Therapy preferred; new graduates may be considered.
  • Proficiency in using and maintaining radiation oncology equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient-centered approach to care.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and commitment to patient safety.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to meet client and site-specific credentialing requirements, including immunizations, drug testing, background checks, and annual TB testing, as needed.
  • Proficient in the use of standard software tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Willingness to engage in continuous learning to keep current with technological advances in radiation oncology.
