Full Job Description

About Us:

Caelux is a pioneering leader in the field of perovskite solar cell technology, committed to revolutionizing the renewable energy sector with cutting-edge innovations. The size of the solar-generation market has grown 15X in the last decade and shows no signs of slowing down. The global solar power market is now over $200B/year and accounts for 50% of new electricity-generating capacity additions in the USA. Solar-generated electricity is now cheaper than that generated by coal or oil. Caelux is spurring this rapid growth by developing and deploying a novel technology that dramatically increases the power and efficiency of solar modules, at a lower cost per watt.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will be the engineer maintaining the baseline PVD process and developing improved physical vapor deposition processes for thin films used in Caelux’s production floor (located at our Baldwin Park facility).

Key Responsibilities:

•      Developing and optimizing new sputtering processes to improve deposition quality and module performance.

•      Performing data analysis and providing feedback for device/module engineering iterations.

•      Maintaining baseline recipes and developing quality control plans including statistical process control.

•      Training operators to run sputtering tools and processes effectively.

·   Co-developing engineering packages for the acquisition, development, installation, and bring-up of new vacuum tools. This includes requirements documents and RFQs, vendor technical capability assessments, factory and site acceptance testing, installation, spares planning, energy control plans, and maintenance SOPs.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

·  Strong understanding of the physics of Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD)

·   Knowledge of and experience in thin film metrology and characterizations (UV-VIS spectroscopy, profilometer, 4-probe measurement, SEM, XRD).

·   PhD in a field involving thin films, MS in a technical or scientific field + 2 years thin-film process development experience, or BS in a technical field + 4 years thin-film process development experience.

Additional knowledge and skills that will serve the successful applicant well in this role:

•      PhD in a scientific field

•      Strong background in optics, thin films, and vacuum deposition.

•      Hands-on experience with reactive magnetron sputtering deposition

•      Experience working with production-scale PVD tools; direct experience with DC and pulsed DC PVD processes is a plus

•      Statistical data analysis and design of experiments.

Benefits

•      Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses

•      Comprehensive health and wellness benefits

•      Retirement plan and company match

•      Stock options

•      Opportunities for professional development and growth
