Umbra is looking for a dynamic Production Supervisor who will play an essential role in building the satellites we launch annually. In this position, you will lead the talented technicians building cutting-edge spacecraft systems, directly contributing to our success. Your expertise will not only ensure the precise construction of satellites but also help optimize and refine our manufacturing processes across multiple projects. This position is based in our Santa Barbara, CA office

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of technicians, assigning tasks across various build projects.
  • Prioritize safety and maintain an exemplary safety record.
  • Ensure all lab spaces are clean, organized, and well-maintained.
  • Develop, update, and improve onboarding and training materials.
  • Create and implement a team development program aimed at enhancing skills, improving manufacturing efficiency, and reducing lead time and costs while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, using metrics and data to monitor progress.
  • Regularly report on project status and potential risks to leadership.
  • Foster a collaborative culture within your team and across departments.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years of production operations or process development experience
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and the ability to manage a small production team

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or technical discipline
  • Experience building out a multidisciplinary production organization and leading a small team
  • Experience standing up a new production line and bringing it to rate
  • Experience with applying lean manufacturing principles
  • Ability to adapt to constantly changing work environment

Pay Transparency
This job posting may cover multiple career levels. To ensure greater transparency, we provide base salary ranges for all roles, regardless of location. Our standard pay ranges are based on the role’s function and level, benchmarked against similar growth-stage companies. Compensation may vary based on geographical location, as certain regions may have different cost-of-living factors. The final offer will also be influenced by the candidate's skills, responsibilities, and relevant experience.

Compensation Range

The Compensation Range for this role is $90,000 - $120,000 DOE
