We’re seeking a Principal Copywriter to take our brand to the next level. Reporting to the Head of Creative, the Principal Copywriter will be the creative and strategic owner of our brand voice. The ideal candidate would have a demonstrated command of both brand storytelling and performance writing, with examples in their portfolio to support both skill sets.
A portfolio of work is required for consideration for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Crafting compelling and resonant marketing copy across a wide variety of channels, including, but not limited to, Paid Social, E-Comm/Site, E-Mail/SMS, Brand/Organic Social, Podcast, Display Advertising, Packaging, and In-Store Marketing.
- Developing a deep understanding of the consumer voice and mindset to deliver content that feels written “for the customer, by the customer”.
- Developing a deep understanding of our products, features, and core value propositions to determine the most effective and succinct communication strategy across creative executions.
- Partnering closely with graphic designers and content art directors to concept thoughtful, effective work that leans on channel best practices.
- Maintaining and elevating the brand tone of voice and copy style guide.
- Building and maintaining an ahead-of-need copy bank for channel partners to help drive velocity across teams.
- Partnering with the Head of Creative to ensure consistent application of tone of voice by proofing, editing, and rewriting existing or agency-/contractor-provided copy as needed.
- Proactively collaborating with other parts of the organization to ensure consistency in all copy touchpoints, including, but not limited to, Product, Product Marketing, Retail, and Customer Service
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience as a copywriter in progressively responsible roles
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
- Experience writing for both brand and performance creative, with a portfolio that demonstrates both
- Experience writing for a broad breadth of digital and print channels (with bonus points for in-depth knowledge of SEO writing best practices)
- Detail-oriented and able to autonomously manage priorities and deadlines
- Highly collaborative, organized, and low ego
Nice to Have:
- Experience writing for our demographic: parents of younger children
- General knowledge of Figma, Notion, Adobe Suite, and Google Suite
- Experience writing for retail or lifestyle brands
- Location in Minneapolis or Los Angeles

For Colorado-based candidates, the range being offered for this role is $110k-140K based on experience and for California-based candidates, the range being offered for this role is $110k-140K based on experience.
