Full Job Description
As a Psychological Associate for Aurora Behavioral Health Care, you'll provide quality psychological services to adult, adolescent, and child psychiatric patient population (age range approximately 5 and up) and their families, spouse, significant other; to serve as a member of interdisciplinary team supporting the organization's treatment program and philosophy and assure the deliverance of quality treatment to psychiatric patients and their families.
*Pay Range: $33/hr. to $35/hr.
This position is for those who are seeking to accrue hours towards licensure.
Responsibilities:
- Completes Psychological assessments and other levels of care according to hospital policy
- Conducts Group therapy and Individual therapy sessions
- Completes Psychological discharge summary in a timely manner
- Advocates on behalf of patients
- Maintain and document contact with referring or monitoring agency
- Generates suggestions to enhance treatment plan to meet patients' needs and/or compliance
- Concisely communicates and documents progress or impediments to progress towards treatment plan goals
- Maintains proper boundaries when interacting with patients and their families and co-workers
- Maintains confidentiality of former and current patient information
- Responds to direct requests or questions from patients or other customers in a timely manner
- Listens carefully to patients and customers, probing to clarify their specific need or request
- Establishes eye contact with the patient or customer and presents a demeanor appropriate to the circumstances
- Maintains composure during stressful interactions
Skills:
- Written and oral communications skills, skills in psychotherapy, time management, and crisis intervention common to acute psychotic as well as to non-violent crises intervention practice
- Knowledge of acute adult psychological disorders; advanced principles of clinical psychology as specifically applied to adults, children, and adolescents; skills in conducting group therapy
- Skills in maintaining information as highly confidential; must demonstrate the ability to treat other age populations as needed or have the capacity to develop skills through the organization's cross-training, orientation program
- In the absence of these qualifications upon hire, must demonstrate the ability to learn these concepts and develop these skills within the reasonable time frame
- Ability to clearly summarize pertinent clinical information via written correspondence and medical records documentation
Requirements
- Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology
- BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers
- Experience in an inpatient setting preferred
