Full Job Description

Direct Counsel is seeking a Mid-Level Civil Litigation Attorney for an excellent law firm located in Santa Monica, CA. Ideal candidates will have a strong litigation background and have a desire to join a diverse civil practice. This position provides the opportunity to handle cases in personal injury, employment law, and tenant rights litigation. Pay range starting at $165,000.

Requirements

  • Overseeing day-to-day management of caseload and directing support staff
  • Preparing and executing discovery plans, including propounding and responding to discovery, drafting Meet and Confer letters, and Motion to Compel
  • Drafting pleadings, briefs, and motions, including Motions for Summary Judgment
  • Conducting third party, witness, and expert depositions
  • Conducting legal research and investigations
  • Attending court hearings and arguing motions
  • Meeting with clients and conducting pre-trial and deposition preparation
  • 1st or 2nd chair trial experience, personal injury experience is a plus

 

Experience you will need:

  • Experience in personal injury, employment, and tenant rights litigation
  • Admittance to CA State Bar
  • 5+ years of litigation experience
  • Strong knowledge of civil procedure and litigation strategies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and technology
  • Trial experience as first or second chair
