The NEON Internship Program is now accepting applications for Spring of 2025.

We are seeking students eager to attain hands-on experience within the independent film landscape through the lens of a distribution company. Our Internship Program is immersive and offers a unique and valuable opportunity for you to showcase your skills, creativity, and insights while gaining hands-on experience. The program is designed to provide exposure to various aspects of film distribution, including marketing, publicity, sales, and acquisitions.

International Distribution Intern Duties

The NEON International department covers acquisitions, sales, distribution, marketing, and publicity for all the film titles we represent worldwide rights for. Here are a few examples of tasks you can expect as an intern with the International team:

  • Sales market support: (for theBerlin European Film Market in February and the Cannes Mache du Film in May) tracking festival lineups and competitive project announcements, screening RSVP lists and link requests, generating availability listings, helping with the market shipment
  • Box Office research: pulling international box office reports for project evaluation, and on current titles as they release in each territory
  • Script Evaluation: reading scripts and writing coverage, learning how to evaluate with international sales value in mind
  • Marketing/Publicity: festivalsubmission tracking, compiling international reviews and press breaks, tracking and reviewing localized artwork
  • Other research/support as needed: i.e. research on a specific territory, film, or talent
  • NEON all-intern tasks: partake in team duties such as office support, film presentations, social sweeps, festival coverage, and special events staffing

Important Information Before Applying:

  • Program Dates: The internship runs from January 13, 2025, to May (exact dates are flexible based on academic schedules)
  • Our internships are paid, and offer a competitive hourly rate of $17.50. While school credit isn’t mandatory, we can provide documentation for it if needed. Note that relocation assistance is not available.
  • We're excited about your journey of learning and growth! To make the most of your internship, we ask for a commitment of 2-3 full days a week, totaling around 16-24 hours. The best part? You get to craft your own schedule, ensuring it fits seamlessly with your school calendar.
  • This internship is a team-oriented opportunity that requires you to be on-site at one of our NEON offices, located in our Los Angeles office.
  • Interviews will be conducted from October to early December. If your skills and interests align with one of our available internship roles, a member of the NEON team will reach out to you. Due to the high volume of applications, we regret that we are unable to provide individual status updates.

To be eligible for this internship, you must be enrolled in an accredited college/university, taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (Spring/Fall) during your participation in the internship program.

Requirements

What we’re looking for:

  • Must be an undergraduate student, rising Sophomore, Junior or Senior and enrolled on campus for the entirety of the 2024 - 2025 school year
  • A passion for independent film and a proactive, positive attitude.
  • Strong computer skills, especially in Google Docs and Excel.
  • A collaborative spirit and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Cultural literacy and a curiosity to engage with marketing and distribution campaigns.
  • Quick learner with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • High attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and analytical writing abilities.
  • Previous experience in communications or public relations is a plus.
