Job Overview:
We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Medical Assistant to join our team in delivering high-quality in-home healthcare services. This position is dedicated to providing patient preparation, blood sample collection, appointment coordination, and direct support to primary physicians. The ideal candidate will ensure a seamless, supportive experience for patients and maintain accurate, thorough documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Engage with patients prior to appointments to review medical history, address questions, and provide necessary information about their visit.
- Take and record vital signs, gather symptoms, and prepare preliminary health assessments.
- Prepare and collect blood samples, ensuring adherence to all safety and handling protocols while making the process as comfortable as possible for patients.
- Ensure all tools and supplies for sample collection are ready, adhering to strict sanitation and safety standards.
- Schedule and coordinate patient appointments to optimize timing and resources, confirming appointments and managing rescheduling needs.
- Maintain organized records of patient interactions, appointment details, and patient care documentation.
- Implement and uphold patient care policies to ensure compliance with healthcare standards.
- Organize training sessions for staff and patients, ensuring thorough understanding of procedures and protocols, and regularly reviewing and updating materials.
- Document patient notes and update records post-appointment to ensure smooth transitions and continuity of care.
- Facilitate handovers to primary physicians and manage follow-up care instructions as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Medical Assistant or equivalent training.
- Preferred: Associate’s degree in Medical Assisting or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare or clinic setting, ideally working with senior patients.
- Proven expertise in blood sample collection, including venipuncture, with strict adherence to safety protocols.
- Proficiency in healthcare software and technology, especially for remote patient support.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to empathize and connect effectively with patients, providing a high level of comfort and support.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, manage time efficiently, and handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and professionalism.
- A proactive, problem-solving attitude and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
