We specialize in romance novels, delivering captivating stories to a broad readership across multiple digital platforms. As we grow, we are looking for a dynamic and well-connected Literary Agent to join our team, particularly with a focus on romance authors and the discovery of new talent.

Role Overview:

The Literary Agent will be responsible for sourcing new and established romance authors, negotiating contracts, and managing author relationships. This role requires an individual who is highly connected within the romance writing community, has strong familiarity with major web novel platforms, and possesses exceptional skills in contract negotiation and licensing. You will be instrumental in building and maintaining relationships with key authors, discovering potential breakout writers, and expanding ReelShort’s library of romance content.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Author Recruitment: Identify and source romance authors, focusing on both established talent and emerging writers with potential.
  • Talent Development: Nurture and guide authors, helping them grow within the ReelShort ecosystem.
  • Platform Familiarity: Maintain a deep understanding of key web novel platforms (such as Wattpad and Radish) and trends in digital romance novels.
  • Contract Negotiation: Negotiate author agreements, ensuring fair terms that protect both ReelShort and the author’s interests.
  • Licensing: Oversee licensing agreements for book adaptations, ensuring proper terms and smooth processes.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain long-term relationships with authors, acting as their primary point of contact and ensuring their satisfaction with ReelShort.
  • Market Analysis: Stay informed about trends and competition within the romance genre and recommend acquisition strategies.
  • Collaborative Role: Work closely with the content, marketing, and legal teams to support author success from acquisition to publication.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a literary agent, editor, or talent manager, particularly in the romance genre.
  • Strong connections with romance authors and a network within the web novel and digital publishing communities.
  • Experience with author negotiations, contract structuring, and intellectual property licensing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to identify and nurture emerging talent.
  • Familiarity with digital storytelling trends and web novel platforms.
  • A passion for romance novels and storytelling.
