The Behavioral Health Specialist is an integral part of our health center and is pivotal, offering crucial behavioral health services to patients receiving primary care at TVHC. This individual will conduct thorough screenings, assessments, brief treatments, and consultative services tailored to individuals with mild to moderate mental health symptoms. Collaboration is fundamental: work closely with Primary Care Providers (PCPs), Consulting Psychiatrists, and Care Coordinators to ensure the delivery of holistic patient care.
Compensation: LCSW ($73,000–$82,000, depending on experience). ASW ($66,000–$81,000, depending on experience).
This is a full-time benefited position working 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday with periodic Saturday hours.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize expertise in non-stigmatizing screenings and evaluating mental health and support service needs across diverse age groups.
- Conduct comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessments, addressing mental health, substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, domestic violence, and medical requirements.
- Implement Evidence-Based practices, delivering low-intensity/brief treatment with cultural, linguistic, and age-appropriate considerations.
- Establish partnerships with Care Coordinators to facilitate referrals to specialty mental health services.
- Serve as a primary resource for primary care staff, offering ongoing consultation on advanced mental health techniques.
- Engage actively in multidisciplinary collaborative meetings and therapeutic support groups to address behavioral health and chronic health conditions.
- Lead program development, staff training, and program evaluation activities.
- Take on special responsibilities related to grant-funded projects and program development initiatives.
- Adhere strictly to confidentiality protocols regarding administrative and patient information, maintaining professionalism at all times.
- Ensure compliance with TVHC’s Service Excellence Standards and uphold electronic health record maintenance standards.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Social Work or Doctorate in Psychology. Consideration may be given to candidates with ASW or AMFT registration with BBS.
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant job-related experience.
- Previous experience working with both pediatric and adult populations in ethnically and culturally diverse families.
- Clinical experience providing mental health services in a community-based setting.
- Preferred knowledge of and experience working in a primary care facility as a behavioral health specialist.
- Proficiency in charting using Electronic Health Records is preferred.
