Full Job Description

Direct Counsel is seeking a skilled Labor and Employment Paralegal to join an excellent firm in Beverly Hills, CA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employment law, exceptional organizational skills, and a proactive approach to supporting attorneys in all aspects of case management. This position is open to hybrid and remote candidates as well.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Assist attorneys in all phases of litigation, including case investigation, discovery, and trial preparation.
  • Conduct legal research on labor and employment issues using various resources, including Westlaw and LexisNexis.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests and responses.
  • Manage document production and review, including electronic discovery and document management systems.
  • Coordinate and calendar deadlines, hearings, and other important dates.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
  • Prepare materials for client meetings, depositions, and hearings.
  • Assist in the preparation of trial exhibits and presentations.
  • Stay current with changes in labor and employment law and provide updates to attorneys as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal or legal secretary, with a focus on labor and employment law.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state court rules and procedures.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw and LexisNexis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal software.
  • Experience with electronic discovery and document management systems is a plus.
