Full Job Description
We're Splash — we’re building a modern, tech-enabled pool care platform, and the first national brand in pool cleaning.
We see an opportunity to roll up hundreds of small-to-mid-sized companies into a category leader in this space. We buy established, well run pool cleaning companies, level up ops, hyper-grow via SEO/SEM, and build out vertical SaaS to drive operating leverage and expand margins.
As of 2024, there is no scaled, national brand in the pool cleaning space and no law of nature that says one can’t exist. We’re going to build it.
We’ve raised a $5m pre-seed round led by Asymmetric Capital and Tiny.com, and rounded out by 40+ founder/CEO types like Sam Lessin (Slow Ventures), Ryan Hoover (Product Hunt), Rahul Vohra (Superhuman), etc.
We're based in San Diego, but you can work from anywhere in the US.
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of M&A to lead our mergers and acquisitions efforts and support operational improvements within our portfolio companies. This role requires a unique blend of strategic thinking, financial acumen, and operational expertise. You would be responsible for identifying acquisition targets, executing deals, and working closely with the leadership of portfolio companies to drive operational efficiencies and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build the M&A machine: Develop and execute a comprehensive M&A strategy that aligns with the firm's growth objectives. Identify and evaluate potential acquisition targets, conduct due diligence, and lead negotiations to acquire companies.
- Deal execution: Oversee the entire acquisition process, including financial modeling, deal structuring, negotiation, and closure. Work closely with legal, financial, and due diligence teams to ensure seamless execution.
- Portfolio company integration: Take the lead in post-acquisition integration efforts to ensure seamless transitions. We need you to establish integration plans, timelines, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and measure success.
- Operational improvement: Work closely with the leadership of portfolio companies to identify areas where operations can be streamlined and made more efficient. Experience in an operating role at a SMB-type roll-up or other early-stage company is a plus.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in M&A, investment banking, private equity, or related fields, with a proven track record of successful acquisitions and integrations. Experience with SMB-type roll-ups preferred, particularly in the home services space (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lawn care, etc.)
- Strong financial and analytical skills, with expertise in financial modeling, valuation, and due diligence.
- Excellent negotiation, leadership, and team management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. We’re a startup.
Benefits
- Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.
- A significant equity stake in the company.
- Opportunity to work with a dynamic team to make a huge impact on a very large, thoroughly antiquated industry.
- Comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and more.
