Job Summary
As the Head of Finance at Obran Cooperative, you will lead our financial management strategy, driving the cooperative’s financial planning and economic sustainability. This role requires a deep understanding of traditional financial structures as well as solidarity and new economy financial models including self-management and a willingness to learn about and embrace Teal organization principles. You will work closely with senior management to ensure that our finance functions support the cooperative’s growth and values, emphasizing holistic approaches and worker empowerment.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Oversee Obran Cooperative's financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, with an approach that supports self-management and distributes decision-making.
- Develop strategies to optimize financial performance and profitability within the framework of a solidarity economy and Teal organizational models.
- Facilitate open financial communication and transparency, ensuring all cooperative members understand financial health and are involved in economic decision-making processes.
- Provide leadership and guidance in the transformation toward and maintenance of Teal organizational structures, focusing on self-management, wholeness, and evolutionary purpose.
- Ensure robust financial systems and processes are in place.
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support the executive team's decision-making.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate financial management with broader business operations.
- Support fundraising and manage relationships with external financial entities, including banks, investors, and funding organizations that align with cooperative principles.
- Develop and monitor performance metrics that reflect the cooperative’s commitment to employee ownership and equitable growth.
- Educate and mentor cooperative members on financial literacy and solidarity economy principles.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- CPA certification is preferred.
- Proven experience in a senior financial management role, preferably in a cooperative, non-profit, or solidarity economy context.
- Strong understanding of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles, including comprehensive knowledge of financial reporting and compliance.
- Excellent knowledge of financial legislation, regulation, and practices.
- Experience with financial management software and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of and experience with self-management practices and Teal organizational models, particularly in a financial context.
- Passion for and knowledge of solidarity economy or new economy financial structures, with a commitment to principles of Teal and self-managed systems.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
