The US entity operates independently from our China-based organization, with a strategic focus on building out local market presence and serving both domestic and international (outbound) clients. We are committed to a robust investment in North America and seek a seasoned professional to lead this effort.
Position Summary:
As the General Manager for North America, you will be our first key hire on the ground, reporting directly to the US-based CEO. You will build and lead a US team from scratch, shaping market strategy, executing business development initiatives, driving revenue growth, and establishing long-term customer relationships. You will collaborate closely with global stakeholders, including our China headquarters and Singapore operations, to integrate product roadmaps and ensure cohesive go-to-market strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Market Entry & Growth:
- Develop and execute the North American business strategy, targeting key verticals such as internet, retail, FMCG, and automotive.
- Identify, acquire, and nurture strategic, large-scale customers to achieve breakthrough results.
- Sales Leadership & Ecosystem Building:
- Integrate key product offerings and solutions to meet performance targets.
- Implement landmark projects and develop scalable, repeatable sales strategies.
- Establish a sales ecosystem, including SOPs for customer relationship management, market analysis, and competitive intelligence.
- Team Building & Management:
- Recruit and lead a team of approximately six employees by year-end, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Provide hands-on guidance, mentoring, and leadership to ensure successful execution of market strategies and sales objectives.
- Market Intelligence & Strategy:
- Continuously gather and analyze market trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging opportunities.
- Propose responsive strategies to adapt to market changes and ensure sustainable growth.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with global product, operations, and R&D teams to ensure alignment with local market requirements.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with the China HQ, leveraging your Chinese language skills to bridge cultural and operational gaps.
Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or above.
- 8+ years of sales or business development experience in the North American market; proven track record in scaling early-stage ventures is a plus.
- Experience in database, data analytics, or BI software sales or sales management is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex project sales efforts, from opportunity identification to deal closure.
- Strong market awareness, adaptability, and leadership capabilities.
- Bilingual in English and Mandarin (Chinese) to facilitate seamless collaboration with international teams.
- Hands-on, entrepreneurial mindset; comfortable operating in a startup environment and building from the ground up.
- Located or willing to work in the Bay Area on a hybrid schedule (2 days onsite per week).
