Game Capture Artist

The Game Capture Artist is responsible for capturing high-quality video and screenshots from Square Enix (SQEX) game builds to support brand creative, marketing, and promotional efforts. This role involves closely working with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements, highlight game features, and produce visually engaging content. The artist utilizes in-game tools and external software to capture and edit footage that aligns with aesthetic and technical standards. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for gaming, they will deliver high-quality assets in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with Creative Studios, Publishing Strategy, and Marketing to understand project requirements.
• Multi-stage immersion and familiarity with game tools and gameplay nuances (story, combat, character development, controls, etc).
• Capture high-quality gameplay footage and screenshots using in-game tools, external hardware/software, for use in brand creative, marketing, social media, trailers, and other promotional content/platforms.
• Edit and refine captured footage to highlight key gameplay features, action sequences, visual effects, color correction, and ensure footage meets SQEX aesthetic and technical standards.
• Support the creation of brand visual identities by providing capture as necessary.
• Optimize captured assets for various channels, including websites, social media, owned and operated, and streaming platforms.
• Support the creation of campaign toolkits by providing capture as necessary.
• Support capture session planning through development of guidance/reference materials to ensure efficiency and success. 
• Ensure SQEX brand consistency across all captured assets.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in game capture techniques and technologies for optimization of capture workflows.
• Maintain and manage a well-organized capture footage archive, shared drives, and DAM platform, according to department best-practices and policies.
• Provide input to positively influence the impact of captured footage, editorial, and visual storytelling.
• Create and maintain standard operating procedures documentation for game capture best practices according to individual game build nuances and specificities.
• Performance measures: Time to create assets, Level of rework, quality of capture, consistency of timely delivery, quality of collaboration and interpersonal communication, personal time management, and technical proficiency.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in game capture, video production, or related field preferably in the entertainment or gaming industry.
• Strong sense of visual aesthetics and storytelling with an eye for detail and ability to capture engaging footage.
• Ability to objectively analyze game footage to determine high impact moments and scenes to drive engagement and excitement.
• Strong knowledge of Unreal Engine and other commonly used game engines and tools.
• Proficiency with marketing/debug tools within game builds. 
• Familiarity with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro.
• Knowledge of capture software and hardware devices (e.g., Elgato, Atomos Ninja, Nvidia).
• Experience with digital asset management.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to receive feedback gracefully and implement input effectively.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Strategic thinker with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics.

Annual Salary Range: $75,000 - $95,000
