The Fire Alarm Technician installs, maintains, and repairs fire alarm systems in commercial buildings.  They also ensure that the system is compliant with relevant codes, laws, and regulations. 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Installation: Install or upgrade fire alarms
  • Testing: Inspect and test systems, batteries, and electrical wiring
  • Maintenance: Perform diagnostics and repairs
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with NFPA and other codes
  • Documentation: Complete inspection reports and maintain records
  • Training: Instruct employees on how to use and maintain the systems
  • Response: Respond to emergency service calls 

Requirements

Essential Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated knowledge of fire and electrical codes
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A clean driving record and the ability to meet the company’s insurance requirements
