Full Job Description

A well-respected law firm in California concentrating on family law and domestic violence cases. We are dedicated to providing a tailored and comprehensive legal services to clients, helping them navigate some of the most challenging times in their lives. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Family Law Attorney to join our team.

Title of Position: Family Law Attorney

Position Type: Part-time; Contract.

Compensation Structure: $120 - $175 per hour.

Location: Hybrid (remote work except for court appearances through all Bay Area counties - California)

Schedule: 5-10 hours per week - Flexible hours.

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Conduct consultations with potential clients, providing expert legal advice in all areas of family law and domestic violence.
  • Attend court hearings in person across all Bay Area Counties (must be willing to travel).
  • Serve as 1st chair in bench trials, demonstrating strong leadership and legal expertise.
  • Take and defend depositions with a high level of competence.
  • Manage, mentor, and train team members, including junior attorneys, to ensure the highest quality of legal representation.

Requirements

Required Skills:.

  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents, pleadings, motions, and correspondence.
  • Ability to build rapport with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
  • Ability to negotiate favorable settlements for clients outside of court, often through mediation or direct negotiation with the opposing party.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues, interpret laws, and apply them to specific cases.
  • Understanding and responding to the emotional needs of clients, who are often going through highly stressful situations.
  • Maintaining composure under pressure and managing the emotional challenges of family law cases.
  • Adherence to the highest ethical standards, including confidentiality, conflict of interest rules, and honesty in dealing with clients and the court.

Qualifications:

  • Active license with the State Bar of California.
  • No record of discipline with the State Bar of California.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience practicing family law; Certified Family Law Specialists preferred.
