Full Job Description
General Summary:
The Facilities & HVAC Technician, under the direction of the Facilities Manager, will primarily focus on HVAC systems. In addition, they will complete assignments, work orders, equipment maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and make maintenance recommendations at the Jacobs Music Center, The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, and the warehouse.
Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain HVAC systems at both concert venues.
- Perform equipment maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of the Facilities department assets and equipment.
- Diagnose malfunctions and defects in equipment.
- Prioritize equipment requests from internal staff and vendors.
- Work events as needed, troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other situations as they arise.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Read blueprints and electrical and electronic schematics.
- Grasp electrical and plumbing concepts, operate tools, gauges, and other testing equipment for refrigeration systems.
- Understand the operations of commercial refrigeration systems.
- Possess an HVAC background with CMMS systems knowledge preferred.
- Demonstrate and have competency in one or more of the following areas: refrigeration, HVAC, electricity, fire systems, plumbing, construction, maintenance.
- Able to work both independently and in teams as needed.
- Ability to follow written, oral, and electronic instructions, and successfully meet time commitments.
- Ability to communicate with management and disseminate resolutions effectively.
- Knowledge of MS Office programs, including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and computerized maintenance management software system required.
- Ability to work effectively with other departments.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an approved, accredited course in electricity, refrigeration, HVAC, or plumbing preferred.
- 2+ years HVAC maintenance experience preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Sit, lift, carry, stand, kneel, or stoop for extended periods of time.
- Lift and move up to 35 pounds independently and up to 50 pounds with assistance.
- Navigate crowded spaces effectively in both indoor and outdoor venues.
- Work for extended periods in direct and indirect sunlight.
- Exposure to excessive noise, extreme temperatures, humidity, dust, gas, fumes, and chemicals may occur; use of special visual or auditory protective equipment may be required, and duties may involve working with biohazards.
- Negotiate stairs and move freely on stage and backstage at any time.
- Experience normal office conditions: sitting at a desk and computer terminal for long periods, typing, computer work, and light to moderate lifting.
General Work Requirements:
- Possess a valid driver’s license and have the ability to operate company vehicles and equipment as needed (preferred).
- Be available to work weekends, evenings, nights, overtime, and holidays as required.
- Successfully engage and communicate with a wide variety of personalities.
- Work independently on projects with minimal supervision.
- Work alone in various areas of a venue as necessary.
- Manage multiple, simultaneous demands from various stakeholders while interacting professionally with the public and collaborating effectively with staff members.
Benefits
Pay Range:
$25.00-$29.00 per hour
