JOB SUMMARY
As a Fabricator, you will be instrumental in assembling and welding structural steel components for various construction and fabrication projects. The ideal candidate will have strong welding skills, experience in structural steel assembly, and a commitment to precision and quality. You will work closely with a team to ensure that all components meet design specifications and safety standards.
Salary range: $24.00 to $27.00 an hour.

SoLa Impact is a real estate private equity firm with a double bottom line strategy focused on preserving, rehabbing, and building high-quality affordable housing in Black and brown communities. SoLa is Southern California's largest for-profit affordable housing developer and is currently in construction on over 2,000 affordable housing units across Southern California. SoLa currently owns and manages over $1.2 billion of multifamily assets, almost all of which are in low-income, Black and brown communities.
SoLa's new venture is reinventing multifamily housing creation by building the first and only standardized modular housing factory. The new venture is a comprehensive manufacturing system designed, engineered, and built to consistently produce a high-quality, low-cost, net-zero ready, and most importantly, standardized, modular housing product. This a Black-owned and operated business based in Southern California that will deliver between 1,000 – 1,500 modular housing units per year by 2025. Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Precisely assemble and weld structural steel components according to blueprints, engineering drawings, and design specifications.
- Perform assembly tasks, including aligning, fitting, and securing steel parts before welding them into place.
- Conduct thorough quality checks on welded joints and assembled structures to ensure adherence to industry standards and project specifications.
- Utilize various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick, FCAW, ERW) and equipment to fabricate steel structures while maintaining high precision and structural integrity.
- Operate and maintain welding and assembly tools, such as grinders, power tools, cranes, and forklifts, ensuring their proper functioning and safety.
- Identify and resolve any assembly or welding issues, collaborating with team members and engineers to find effective solutions.
- Adhere to safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) to maintain a safe work environment.
- Work closely with engineers, fabricators, and other team members to ensure timely completion of projects while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of assembly and welding processes, including material usage, time tracking, and quality checks.
- Complete other tasks and projects as assigned.
EDUCATION, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Proven experience in both structural steel assembly and welding, with knowledge of assembly processes and welding methods.
- Experience with interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, and welding symbols for structural steel projects.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, welding equipment, and other assembly tools required for steel fabrication.
- Knowledge of welding safety standards and the ability to apply them on the job.
- Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues in both assembly and welding processes.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
