InAlliance, a nonprofit that provides support to adults with developmental disabilities, is looking for an experienced and motivated Employment Specialist to develop, coordinate, and implement activities to support job placement and continued employment for participants in the Community Employment Services Department (CES). The Employment Specialist performs a broad range of activities designed to assist adults with developmental disabilities achieve competitive employment.
Responsibilities
- Completes all six phases of employment services including program intake, engagement, assessment, job development, job placement, job coaching, and follow-along supports.
- Connect individuals to Work Incentives Planner (Benefits Planner) and provide support during meetings, if needed by individual.
- Instructs and supports in job seeking, application procedures, resume writing, interview preparation and job retention skills.
- Assists participants in preparing job search portfolio, provides job search information and presentations, and provides support for and during interviews.
- Discuss and adhere to agreed upon plans per individual.
- Connect with Circle of Support such as DOR, Alta Regional Center, Families, Home Support Staff, Mental Health Treatment Team, if applicable
- Schedule monthly external team meetings and send client related weekly emails.
- Complete Employment Services Documentation, Annual Plan, Progress Notes, Monthly Reports for DOR and Semi-Annual Reports.
- Update documentation with each new job experience per individual.
- Meet employers about competitive jobs based on job choices which reflect client’s preferences, strengths, symptoms, and lessons learned from previous jobs.
- When clients have limited work experience, provide information about a range of job options in the community.
- Build and maintain relationships with employers through multiple planned in-person visits to learn the needs of the employer, convey what the program offers to the employer, and describe client strengths that are a good match for the employer.
- Provide on-going support to working individuals that are based on the job, client preferences, work history, and needs.
- Provides employer support such as educational information or job accommodations at client’s request.
- Help people move on to preferable jobs and promotions.
- Researches the internet, agencies, job fairs, and other resources for job leads.
- Serves as a member of various committees as requested.
- At least 75% of time is spent providing direct support, including employer contacts.

Education:
- High School Diploma
Experience:
- Two years of direct instructional experience with adults with developmental disabilities, preferably in employment training, job search support, career counseling, education, or working with people with disabilities in a community setting.
- Ability to navigate employment laws and incentives available to help people with disabilities secure employment.
- Ability to navigate computers and varying computer software.
Preferred Education and Experience:

- BA/BS Degree in related field
