Full Job Description
The Electronic Engineering Technician role is responsible for assisting in the development, testing and documentation of medical electronic systems during product development, manufacturing and distribution. The technician will also work to build and implement test fixtures and circuits for medical devices entering the production and distribution phases. Performs testing, repairs and modifications on electronic and electromechanical equipment in conformance to established standards and specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist engineering with development, testing, documentation, manufacturing transfer and distribution processing of medical electronic systems
- Work with development engineers and project teams to build and test prototype electronic circuits and systems using lab instruments including oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, etc.
- Assemble and rework printed circuit boards with fine-pitch SMT (Surface Mount Technology) and through-hole components.
- Work with manufacturing & distribution resources to diagnose issues and train others in testing, diagnosing and repair of electronic systems
- Perform test procedures, write up data analysis, summary and conclusion of test results
- Ability to use electrical and mechanical CAD tools to design, fabricate, assemble and document electronic/mechanical assemblies and fixtures
- Support change orders and documentation
- Support quality team with investigations and documentation
- Maintain an organized electronics lab space, supplies and manage equipment calibration
- Identify needed supplies and equipment, write purchase requisitions and/or place orders to maintain supplies
- Perform incoming material inspection for electronic sub and final assemblies and wiring harnesses
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements

- Working knowledge of analog, digital and power electronic circuits, with significant experience in medical electronics
- Expertise in building, modifying, testing and diagnosing prototype circuits from engineering schematics and drawings
- Expertise in rework and repair of electronic surface mount and through-hole printed circuit assemblies, including fine-pitch integrated circuits and passive components to 0402 size.
- Ability to read and interpret electronic schematic diagrams, bills of material and PCB fab and assembly documentation
- Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings, specifications and work instructions
- Expertise with the use and operation of standard electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, multi-meters, function/arb generators, power supplies, etc.
- Capable of writing and executing test procedures and component/assembly specifications
- Ability to take initiative to identify and troubleshoot issues; creative in determining approach or action to take in non-routine situations
- Competent in use of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Competent in use of schematic capture and PCB layout CAD tools (Altium preferred)
- Ability to use internet search and on-line tools to research problems
- Communication - the ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and regularly with team members
- FDA GMP and ISO manufacturing and design control experience
- Understands and complies with the critical requirements for medical device documentation
- Interpersonal - the ability to develop a good working relationship with each team member
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Education and Experience
AA degree in electronics technology preferred; or four plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary Range
Alphatec Spine, Inc. complies with state and federal wage and hour laws and compensation depends upon candidate’s qualifications, education, skill set, years of experience, and internal equity. $32 to $38 Full-Time Hourly Range.
